New 2023 FJRs For Cheap!

Post by SkooterG »

Anybody looking for a new FJR? Well, they are blowing out the remaining 2023s. Yamaha didn't make a lot of 2022s. Supply chain issues were still having an impact it seems. Well, it appears they were trying to make up for that and made metric buttload of 2023s. They are still all over the net. Yamaha is currently doing some kind of incentive program. Lots of dealers advertising for *well* under MSRP. That wasn't happening last April/May when I was in the market.

There are several dealers out west here advertising for around $15k. One for under $14k! But they are the dealers that usually add fairly hefty fees. I haven't even bothered to call any of them. Still probably a good deal compared to 9 months ago when it was $18,299 + about $1,000 in fees for the most part.

But, I have found a couple dealers selling brand new 2023 FJRs on the eastern side of the country for $15,300 Out The Door! That is a before tax and registration kind of out the door. I'd be surprised if anyone finds one for cheaper, but you never know. If so, I would be interested in hearing about it. And NO! I am not in the market for another one.

IMHO, $15,300 OTD before tax and tags is a pretty damned good deal. Especially considering the MSRP for a 2004 A model was $12,599. If you have been thinking about one, I would jump on it. I don't think the really cheap one's will last long. Perhaps I do need another one?

There is a scientific basis for determining how many motos one should own. It is expressed in the following scientific forumla:

P = n+1

Where P = how many motos one should own. And n = the current number of motos one owns.

In layman's terms, the answer is always "just one more"! :D

I'm waiting for the BIG sale. The one when ScooterG comes to his senses and realizes that he's stupid and no one needs 24 FJR's and he decides to offload them on the cheap. :D

For now, I think ScooterG needs to operate on the n+3 formula. Gotta get him stocked up for the BIG sale. :D

My local dealer discounted the MSRP by $2400. Probably haggle a few dollars more off? Now at $15,899

Not too bad at all. Any fees other than tax and tags? Of the two dealers I found, one listed at $14,999 + $200 doc fee, and the other at $15,200 with a $107 doc fee. That first one is now gone.

No discounts in Georgia. $18,299 plus all fees, etc. FJR is like the Suzuki DRZ. Hardly any changes since 2001, other than colors, and those are repeated over and over. They don't want to lose the grandfather emission status of the engines. All the innovation and R&D goes into other models. Not even much of that for Suzuki.

I shouldn't even look at this thread. Not that I'm in the market. Probably. But there are 49-state bikes, and there are California bikes. So the way I understand it, I can buy used over 7,000 miles, or I can buy a new Cali bike and pay the no-discount, whatever-the-hell-they-want-to-charge California bike.

Or of course, the most likely third option: hang onto the last one till one of us gives out.

You asshats from the Peepl's Repulik of Kalifornia have it bad. Closed off little micro-market where dealers can give you the shaft bad. Even worse than BMW! However, that being the case the last time I looked there was a dealer in Temecula selling a brand new '23 FJR for $15,7xx before tax and ttl. That is a pretty damned good deal for Kalifornia.

Yeah, but at least you are much closer to places like North Carolina and West Virginia than most of us. Some good deals in those states.

I think I may never buy a new motorcycle again. The delta for getting one with 10K miles or less is substantial. Even if it's a dealer purchase, the fees and BS on a used bike are significantly less (and I believe more negociable).

I suppose one never knows, but I've done it both ways and the new bike was a LOT more expensive.
