2019 FJR Review

Pretty positive review. Wants better brakes? And smoother shifting?
I certainly haven't had any braking issues - maybe they just need a little more bedding in. (or is the 2019 very different from the '11?)
I have heard some others comment on the shifting on the six speeds but nothing universal. Maybe he needs a clutch soak.

Zactly. If those are the "could be betters..." I think we are in the golden age of sport-tourers and a bit of mcy history has been lost regarding what shifting and braking has been in the not too distant past.

I prefer an FJR...I'm sure there are plenty of other great bikes out there, but wanting a bike to go across country and still hit the curves pretty good and do it comfortably two-up, can't complain on the FJR. Well, you can...as there are boards full of posters who do...but this is a problem with being rich: you don't know how good you have it.

That was a good read. Personally I’m more than happy with the braking but I do agree with the shifting.

Anti Stall Idle system?

I agree with the Gearbox, both my FJR's have been clunky compared to Honda and Kawi transmissions I've ridden. No big whoop though.

He runs 80-90 klicks everywhere. No way on that mileage over a 100Km/h.

Anti-stall on Gen3, increases idle a touch when you begin to let the clutch out. ECU controlled throttle by wire feature.

I may still learning my fjr but I was thinking that the transmission was much smoother than most I have available to ride at the moment. It may be that only being a couple months into ownership I haven't fully meshed into its ways yet.

My transmission is smoother on the FJR then on my VT1300 Honda. There no comparison on brakes.

I am not experienced on that many different bikes, but I always thought the brakes were one of the positives on the bike.

If you want to give the FJR bads marks I would do it for the side loading bags.

It's only side loading if you leave them on the bike. I take them off the bike, lay them on their back, and loading up the liner and put it in the hard bag. Easy Peasy.

The US bikes came with saddlebag liners..... not quite seeing the problem if you use them, I've been doing it for 10 years.

You guys really are right. If you use the liners and or just take them off they work fine.

I leave them on the bike and overstuff them.

There is no doubt in my mind that you can put more into the liner (and still have it fit into the hard case) than you can put into the case directly.

Of course, at the hotel/campground, just being able to grab the liner and leave the case on the bike is invaluable.

Side loading bags are like side loading washing machine they are just plain unnatural.

Next there will be side loading buckets!!!!
