Tank Bags (Again)
In the market. Been running the huge Givi, 26L ?, but it's too big.
Or my belly is.
Long of short can't stand up on rider pegs without rubbing.
Looking for smaller bag, ~15L, that matches the tank rear slope.
Found this, but curious to see what 'modern day' FJR peeps are running.

Re: Tank Bags (Again)
I bought this beauty last year for my California trip. It's been fantastic! I also wired it for charging my phone etc. You can buy it with or without the locking system. Mine doesn't have the lock. Releases by a push of a button on the left side. Easy removal for gas stops. Very secure. It fits the slope of the FJR tank perfectly when you unzip the small angled extension in the front of the bag on the bottom.

Re: Tank Bags (Again)
Anybody make a tank bag that is truly waterproof (without the cover)?
I have a Nelson-Rigg bag that is pretty good with magnetic attachment. I used to use painter's tape to protect the tank at the magnet landing points but have since bought some 3M paint protective film to keep grit (attracted by magnets) from abrading the paint. Much classier than painter's tape and doesn't turn to slop when it gets soaked.
I have tried to make it at least moderately waterproof using spray waterproofing for boots/camping gear, but without success.

Can I talk you out of a side profile pic? Most likely that's the bag I'll try. Pretty much done with Givi bags.FJRPittsburgh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 7:49 am I bought this beauty last year for my California trip. It's been fantastic! Edit - Are you happy with the latching mechanism? As good as or better than Givi? Nice and secure? As in Click-Click good?

The latching mechanism is better than Givi's. Easy on and off. Clicks into place very securely. I highly recommend it.

Re: Tank Bags (Again)
Honestly, I couldn't be more happy with it. It's the nicest tank bag I've owned and perfect for the FJR. The rain cover stores neatly under the lid in a zippered mesh area.

Re: Tank Bags (Again)
Also, there are 4 screws on the bottom that secure the bag to the mount. There are markings to drill 4 new holes to allow the bag to move 1 inch rearward. It pulls the bag back the perfect distance from the bars.

Re: Tank Bags (Again)
I have the Yamaha FJR specific tank bag. Bought it used in 2021 off Facebook Market place. $50.
It's the only tank bag I've used on this bike. It’s been on 3yrs and 26k miles.
Overall, I'd give it a B+. The zipper tabs have broke off. Kinda makes it difficult to pull.
When turning full lock left, it hits the horn button.
Seems to be rather water resistant. Once, I rode 5hrs in the rain (all interstate), and it was dry inside.
I've run across an older (but new) Eclipse magnetic mount tank bag, which will be the next one I use.
