Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Rode the FJR about 100 miles today. For some reason my wife haven't ridden much together lately. She fired up the scout and I took the FJR.
About time for new tires on the FJR. I am thinking of being an early adapter and getting some R6GTs. Expensive but I really like the wet handling of the R5s that are on my MT09.

Installed some crummy eBay lever guards. I have some nice Klim bar muffs but the wind pushes them into my brake and clutch levers when I'm at speed. I haven't done a test ride yet but it seems like it'll work.
Edit: I uploaded pics to imgur and tried to link them here...must be doing something wrong.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I put a GP Suspension fork kit (valves and springs) and fresh oil of course, in my 08 AE. I had the kit. It was taken out of my 07 when the Traxxion AK 20's went in.
Next is flush the clutch fluid, then install new Ohlins. Both of which will be a bit of a challenge because the AE is very tight around the shock.

Yeah, 276 is rough...the only time it isn't rough is the day it is freshly paved. Sounds like we fish in the same creek...I'm just on the other side of 25 from you. You get to look down from your castle on my trailer park.Blueridgerider wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 4:58 pm...My ride was home to 11 then up 276 through Brevard. 64 to 178 then back up 276 through TR and always finishing by going up Altamont/ Paris Mtn to home.

So funny and subconsciously true Never fails right you wash your car it rains, buy a new car some moron dings the door. I actually called my insurance company and had then add 3K to my policy for upgrades. For a buck extra or so its good insurance. A good lesson and wake up call as it made me realize as I was so close to home and this happened to never stop focusing the same as when your going through curves etc. Usually at this point I am thanking the Good Lord for a safe ride but now I won't do it until the bike is parked.gixxerjasen wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 4:52 pm Blueridgerider, admit it, you were thinking "OH NO, NOT MY AK20's!!!!"

Haha No castle here Wheaton. I live off Mtn Creek Church Rd. If someone thinks I live on Paris Mtn I would say, "And Then I Woke Up" Altamont is the road I usually take coming and going from home on rides as its instant twisties and warms you up quick. Nothing like 10 miles of great curves to get things going.wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 8:43 amYeah, 276 is rough...the only time it isn't rough is the day it is freshly paved. Ya know perception is a powerful thing and often wrong. I can see why you and others here might think I live up there with Traxxion upgrades etc. and my GoPro cams but in reality I asked Discover if they would give me 12 months no interest for a big purchase and they agreed. For less than 60 per week I got the upgrade and is definitely affordable. "Visa, Its Everywhere You Want To Be!!" Ever since I could walk I have been a gadget guy and love photography and videography. I really enjoy making photos and videos of rides and other things in life. For me there is not much better then reliving a great ride or trip, making snapshots out of video frames or making short videos to share with my best riding friends. Here is one I made for a friend after our last fall trip if anyone is interested in checking it out. Just a short couple minutes. Don't believe in long boring videos. I take a small drone with me and if the spot is right and I do not piss anyone off I will get some footage for the video like this one as well. Hey, we are practically neighbors and should get together and ride sometime.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Okay...so yer a regular guy...I feel much better. And this means I don't have to police the yard for old tires and ole rusted 5 gallon drums and milk cartons, so that's a plus.
I'm up for a ride some day if you can stand my slow amblin pace. I usually hear lots of yawns in the SENA if I ever lead.
Sometime when it's warmer, some weekend day oughtta do it.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I don't anyone that rides an FJR or any motorcycle is a so called regular guy as we have an adventurous spirit and enjoy life in a exciting way. I am not one to race around either so your pace sounds like what mine is. I want to get home alive and focus everything on that. I have a Cardo so the toughest part would be getting those to sync up haha. Its supposed to be easy, yeah right. Anyway I am glad your up for getting together sometime and know it would be a great time and ride.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Used Townsend's brackets and Yamaha locks to install helmet locks on the '13. I was able to re-do the tumblers of one lock to match the other so at least there's only one key. Couldn't find any Helmet Guardian or Yamaha locks that my ignition key would fit so I got what I got. I'm good with it. I've had locks on the '07 from way back and I've missed them on the '13.

Took the first ride of the year. It went above 40 F and we had clear blue skies for the first time in several months. Just about 20 minutes around rural roads, but it was great to get out again. As an added bonus, no issues arose from all the work I have done so far over the winter.

Rode with a group of 10 for lunch in Fayetteville, continued through Lynchburg square, got home, bought gas for inflated $3.099/gallon, 129 miles, 49.35 MPG. Road Trip MPG (iOS) says I am 115 miles overdue for rear drive oil change.

Rode the FJR to Brinnon and didn't hit the elk on the side of the road. 200 Plus miles today. A good day, 35 degrees when I left the homestead and 52 degrees when I returned.

Man, I am envious of your $3.09 gas. I'm in Idaho where regular is currently $3.60, premium is $4.10 and ethanol-free premium is $4.60

Put the battery tender on for the first time this Winter. About 2 minutes later fully charged. The FJR battery is strong and must have a draw of next to nothing when sitting.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Fun thing about having a good app such as Road Trip MPG is the statistics it tallies.
Past 12 months: 235 gallons, 11,503 miles, $2.686/gallon average cost, 49.76 MPG.
Since April 1, 2016: 1656 gallons, 81,399 miles, $2.210/gallon, 49.23 MPG.
