Welcome, Wilco! Make yourself at home, but first, get everyone a drink.

Welcome to the forum from the state next door.
I got a picture of Lake Superior last fall also. I stopped into visit friends from Knife River before hitting Aerostitch in Duluth the next morning.

Thanks all for the welcomes! The bike only has 28k on it, so I'll be hard pressed to wear it out before any eventual upgrade.

Blaine. And I work near the Plymouth/Minnetonka border. So I ride/pass by your neck of the woods frequently!
Did you see the thread about the tech day coming up hosted by Trippermike? See MN Tech Day 4/28 thread.

Wilco, before you go to that tech day, come down here to Illinois and pick up your SNOW you let loose on us.
Never mind, it will melt soon.
I had an 04 as an introduction to the FJR platform. Loved that bike. But at 88K, I found a replacement. You can wear them out, but not likely in MINNESOTA! Lol. If you need a passenger backrest, let me know.
Welcome to the board. Tech days are fun and good for meeting really helpful people. Post a few more times so you get that red name thing gone.

I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I won't upgrade, just that it will be harder to justify!

Re: Greetings from a middle aged noob
You have to try REAL hard to wear out an FJR. My 07 has 130,000 miles on it and still runs great. There's a guy in Ohio with almost 400,000 miles on his.
I sure like the new features on the 2016 and newer FJR's, but it's hard to justify an upgrade to my frugal self when the current (paid for) steed still works fine.

I bought a 2004 barn find a year ago and have found it to be an amazing machine. Mine had less than 5k on the clock - so it will be a long time before I move on to something else.
One thing that I noticed is that the FJR is a near perfect bike....
Power - no problem
Comfort - hours and hours, single or with passenger
Storage - lots or even more with a central trunk
Handling - sweet and trusty
Looks - come on it's a rocket ship
Lighting - better than some modern cars
So the real issue is that there is really little to do except maintain and ride....
