Welcome Steve and good luck in the '17 IBR.Twigg wrote:...I ride a 2005 FJR1300A, a bike that is fairly well-known on the LD Riding circuit.
In June next year I will be riding in the Iron Butt Rally, my first, and probably last attempt at that event...
This may be your first attempt but I know your bike had some miles in the '15 IBR.

Re: Hello from Oklahoma
Yes, for those of you that can remember the '15 IBR, Twigg is the man who rode his rally set up FJR several hours to meet an IBR contestant he had never met on the side of the road. That gentleman's BMW had failed and without a replacement bike he was done. Twigg handed the man his keys, got in his van and drove away, watching his FJR participate in the ultimate LD Rally without him.Teehaml wrote:Welcome Steve and good luck in the '17 IBR.Twigg wrote:...I ride a 2005 FJR1300A, a bike that is fairly well-known on the LD Riding circuit.

Twigg and I will never agree on some things but I am Very Glad he is here. With us.

Re: Hello from Oklahoma
Many, many people in the LD community have helped me, and they continue to do so.
Paying a little forward seemed the right thing to do ... and on my birthday
I do like to remind folk that 14 FJRs started the 2015 IBR, and 15 finished it. As a reliability record, that's gonna take some beating

This forum soooo needs a "like" button.
Not that Twigg would ever get a "like" from me, I am just saying we need that feature.

Re: Hello from Oklahoma
12 more to go Twigg, but I don't know if the new label at 50 posts is much better. I almost prefer squid to "casual rider" because I occasionally ride like a squid, but I'm never casual.

I don't think anyone describes my riding as "casual" ...Harald wrote:12 more to go Twigg, but I don't know if the new label at 50 posts is much better. I almost prefer squid to "casual rider" because I occasionally ride like a squid, but I'm never casual.
Crazy, deranged, idiotic, dangerous ... I've heard them all
Still, I will have clocked up around 75000 miles by the end of next year, since the middle of 2010, and a lot of the first two years was spent rebuilding two bikes to get me on the road.
The best month was still June/July last year when the bike had 4 oil-changes and covered 16000 miles in 21 days.
