Downtime due to Software updates - 10 October 2013
There is an update out for the forum software that needs to be installed. This will cause some downtime while the update is being applied. Calimus is checking his calendar, but it looks like it will happen Thursday evening (east coast time) in the 5pm - 9pm window.
FJRiders.com will be offline during that time. If you get a "page not found" error during that time, don't panic!! We'll have things back up and running as soon as possible.
Thanks,
The Management...

You both know IT can should down the circus whenever they feel like it - that's why I told Calimus there was no need for him to stay up to midnight to avoid inconveniencing wheaton; do it during the middle of the afternoon when he's just sitting at work looking for crap to nit-pick about.
Now I see the AM time frame is open as well - not too busy at work today I see...

And someone would still complain because they didn't know about it...

Make sure he checks with the Mayor of Douchebag Town to make sure he's applying those updates correctly. Otherwise, you might have to blame the users for any issues.

FYI, I wasn't second guessing...I was trying to find out what the story was. I guess I won't be helpful next time.
Back to work you two.

No, I'm on lunch now, time to poke...
This is just a normal update that needs to be done; doing it as they come out is better for the "system" than letting the updates lapse. Calimus was talking about staying up late to do so as not to disturb the site; I figure since he's doing this out of the kindness of his heart, there's no reason for him to stay up to midnight to run an update - we can survive the site being offline a few hours during a more reasonable time frame.

Can I have his email address so I can email him every 5 minutes asking when the site will be back up? Or his phone number, that would be good too, in case he doesn't see the emails.

And you could txt him as well.
Or you could fly to where he lives and just stand outside his house...

That is just f@$king priceless!
Seriously folks, if all goes well, it shouldn't take long at all. Then again, sometime shit doesn't and then I guess you would all have to go find a Harley and polish it's chrome to pass the time or something, lol.
Just keep in mind, I see anyone outside my house holding anything up, I'll assume you want to play William Tell and I'll commence to opening fire

Actually just did the upgrade on another forum that I run and it took a total of about 8min. I'm going to make a copy of these forums and do a dry run at that to make sure things are as smooth here.
