2013 Main Fuse Location?

Post by dcarver »

Naomi left me stranded yesterday.
When making a hard left, at stops, she quit running.

Got a ride, got the trailer.
When installing soft straps to forks, the main relay fell out to the ground. It must have disconnected from wiring when I made the hard left.

I'm not that familiar with the 2013.

ASSuming the fuse wiring connector is somewhere in the RHS area by the battery?
Which panels need be removed?

TIA, the Donald

George, I don't see how that can be... in the middle of the bike under the tank?

Am I looking at this incorrectly?

Well, according to that Partzilla parts diagram there are relays, and then the main fuse. Which one fell out? How the hell did it fall out?

Hint: A photo might be helpful.

The fuse fell from the RHS fork lower to mid triple tree area. I was installing soft ties to both fork legs at seal area.. the soft tie has to go over the plastic fork plastic protector.. while wiggling around with the soft time, plop. The fuse dropped to the ground by the front tire. Will get pics tomorrow.

Link to 2013 Owner's manual pdf. Downloadable (hint, hint, wink, wink) for your computer, phone, tablet, etc. -> https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/s6p6clez ... 2komd&dl=0

pg 7-33 gives a pretty good picture of parts #1 & 6 Main Fuses

The main fuse is at the left front corner of the battery, you have to remove that battery panel. How you'd ever reach it way up there with a soft tie is a true mystery..... are you sure it's the main fuse you dislodged?

Yep. It's a 50 amp pluggable-innable square fuse. And the bike quit running immediately. And the tach needle is stuck at 4k rpm. Pics to come!

Thanks for owners manual link, that's it!

How it got loose I don't know for sure. But have a theory.

There's a ton of extra wiring in that area for upper and lower leds. And, I just replaced the h4's... and it was a hard left parking lot turn... i can see the looms pulling on the wiring going to the fuse connector.

Yes, very secure, but it should not be hanging way down there. Should be up by the battery.

In a perfect world, yes. But the battery compartment and surrounding area is chock full of other wires for 4 LED lights, a controller, aux fuel pp, radar detector, blah blah blah.

Besides, in this location, should the Main Fuse blow, I can easily replace it on the road, not pulling of panels! Think of it as a quick pit stop modification? LOL.
