I think Laam seats are gorgeous looking, well made, and the seat itself is fit to do the job of 80% or more of the riders out there. I've had one in the past and would not have any problem owning one in the future. Just be aware that these are handmade seats and Seth does not cut corners. If you need one, make sure that you have a delivery date months ahead of when you need it. He does not cut corners for you, he will not cut corners for those ahead of you in line...even if there is a hiccup. Unfortunately mine went away in a total.

Have one myself & love it, although my ride-in experience was a cluster F. Spoke with him twice before riding in all the way from Phx. Showed up on the appointed date & he wasn’t expecting me. WTF! With much disdain & a fair amount of rudeness he still made the time to make my seat while I waited with about 20 other seats in his queue. I give him props for his quality, just not his bedside manner!

Go get an RDL. Better seat imho. Especially for someone of your svelte frame!

IMHO, the "Laam v/s RDL" debate is a technical one.

If you are inclined to sit in one position, and do not shift your body weight much or any in the turns, then the higher "wings" on the RDL is definitely going to be more comfortable for you on those long haul days, with more seat to distribute the load. If you like to lean the bike a bit more in the twisties, and enjoy getting up on the tank and lowering that inside leg, then the Laam is the better choice.

It's the typical difference of opinion, whereby one worked for the other, they agreed to disagree (putting is mildly), and the one opened up his own shop to offer something similar, but different. We've seen this a LOT in the marketplace with all sorts of products for motorcycles and anything else.

They're both right, and they're both wrong.

Seth has been planning this move for years. He told me that when he made the seat for the Tiger in 18.

Joey, I’ve had them both and in most cases the LAAM suffices just fine. I can tell you from experience that the RDL is better if yer doing 700+ mile days in high temperatures. This is not a “you’re both right” thing…there is a marked difference on high mile days that I rarely do anymore. The ca$h does make a difference.

And if I so choose, in the twisties I can scootch forward as you should do anyways and not be encumbered in any way by the RDL. You have to tell them what kind of riding you expect to do, and they truly do make it for YOU.

I understand that, but stand by my comment (or opinion as it is), as I also have considerable experience on both. Laam and RDL both will cater the seat to your preferences. The "wings" built into the RDL design hinder the rider who likes to move a bit in the twisties, but provide better support for the longer, higher mileage days.

Once I get to about 400 miles, my arse starts wishing I had the RDL. But then again, for me anyway, I"m past ready to be done for the day.

And so, depending on which you prefer, they are both right and both wrong....

Well, I'll chime in.... my first aftermarket seat was a Corbin which is the right shape, they just don't put foam in it..... and it's too low. To me, easy enough to fix a Corbin. Next up a Lamm, and sorry but half a day and I was done with it, and seems to be a consensus among several...... next up the RDL, which I should have had an adjustment done, but went beyond the time period. I could ride that all day regardless, and moving on it wasn't too bad........ iff'n I was getting a new one, it would be the Russel Sport, which has wings a bit flatter..... which would have been the adjustment I was looking for. Had a Russell Sport on the VFR, and it was the best.
Meanwhile, everybody's butt is a bit different...

Obviously, your attention span is not extending to my whole post. Did it suck that bad? lol. I've had them both and definitely like them both. But I will be glad to have the RDL on some of the long hot days this summer to and from the west coast. PS, I can move around fine in the twisties with the RDL...its fine there too.
