I assume, that it is/was funded by Duane on a subscription basis...like any other photo storage site. So, I assume when the subscription period ends, and they don't get their money...the company will close the account. Go dark.
That's what I mean.

That's the way it works..
Note you can download videos from Vimeo should you find some you want to keep.

Normally there's a download link but I don't see them on his. You can disable them when you upload. I wonder if he disabled them. There's some hacks to get around it but I haven't tried them yet. I did try the simple stuff and it didn't work.

I couldn't find them for the longest time, but if you don't go full screen, and pull up the description tab from the bottom, there is a down load button that , atleast gets me 1080 video. I could tell you stories of every video he had me in.
Look and listen carefully to the videos. They reveal more about Duane's personality and humor than even his posts on Riders.

Got it, thanks.
I'll see what I can do to download them all and get them to a safe place. It's a lot of data so I'm not sure how much I can do, but I'll do what I can. Might also just go buy a portable drive and save them all to that for now.

It is a LOT of storage. I just wanted y’all to see some gems before they go bye bye forever. Because they are classics in my eyes.

I'm working on it, let me see what I can do. Might take me a bit to get it moving. First, I need to go through them all and see their sizes and see what size drive I need to get. Then get the drive and start downloading. I'm out of town some next week and I'm slammed trying to get ready for that this week but once I get back, I'll start working on it.
Worst case, just so they aren't lost, I'm sure we can work with her to keep up. Plus, I'm sure they are saved on their computer?
If anyone has other ideas, let me know.
Just for reference, the Beartooth Pass video was something like 275MB. So maybe 3-4 videos per Gig. A 1 or 2TB drive should work by that simple calculation but I'll make sure.

I wouldn't know about storage on their computer. Marilee's does not have password access...

It's all good, I'll download what I can now, based on the available storage I have, as time permits.

I may be able to store them on the host server here. Not sure I can host them in a way to display / play them, but at least store them (my host plan has unlimited storage space, or so they say...).
Re-posting to Youtube will work for some, but for any that have music added, there will be challenges with the copywrite.

Spent some time this morning saving videos. I'm about 1/2 way done. Shouldn't take much longer. Should have them all backed up by some time tomorrow. Then we'll have them, no matter what happens to Vimeo.
I've watched a few of them while downloading. There's certainly some pure gold in those videos. I was watching one, shot from the side of his bike and he was tooling all around curvy roads. His lines were perfect and he was riding so good. Then I saw a photo he added in the video and realized he was pulling a trailer and had his wife on the back

Thanks for doing that Steve. He was an excellent rider, guide to these southern Apps, road riding companion, adventurer, and an intrepid man. He dealt with unplanned roadside events with a calm demeanor. That he rode with me was a blessing. That he called me friend was the highest honor.

It's my pleasure to do it.
Now, where's this? I see a route 80 sign, and he's being followed by 3-4 FJR's, one red. I'd like to know where that is

I have them all, except for a few which had didn't have "download" turned on. Those were minor.
It's not a huge amount of data, less than 3GB total, I think. I have them, if anyone should need them.

I'm checking to see if the gallery program I have running on the FJRiders host server will save / display video format files - what format are these in (MP4, AVI)??

Josh, Mark (Poolboy), Mark (Wheaton), and I were on one or two of those rides. I was worried about losing 1911 and his trailer. By the 2nd stop, I was worried I was holding him up!
