VStream vs Rifle
Ok, I'm going to buy a new screen. Stock is fine for back and forth to work, but any more is just unbearable. Way too much wind noise, back pressure, and buffeting around my helmet. That being said. I've read a lot and am torn between the V Stream and the Rifle. I'm big on comfort... I'm 6'1 with a 34" inseam. Let's hear your thoughts...

Re: VStream vs Rifle
I have two Rifles. One full size and one chopped down short and narrow. I like them. The angle adjusting blocks look kinda different but much quieter than the stock and other aftermarket I tried. Stock is my favorite looking.

Thanks! Not too concerned about looks, but don't want a barn door on the front either.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
The full size rifle is a barn door. That is why I cut one down. Both are equally quiet. I'll shoot a photo later of how much I chopped off the standard size rifle ships out. I'd like an even smaller one.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
I have tried one other screen, Cal Sci maybe? a big one. then i chopped it off. its what is in my profile photo. Summer, I am getting ready to put the one in this picture back on but I'm further chopping it off.
Cal sci chopped off?
First, stock screen with chopped down rifle
Second, full size rifle with chopped down rifle
The gap that gives pressure relief and changes angle with rifle brackets
Front side gap, crapy picture but you get the point.

Rifle will make the plastic any size you want. I will probably keep playing till I figure it out and order one with a good professional finish.

I am also 6' 1" with 34" inseam. I bought a Rifle +5 +4 shield mainly to eliminate the helmet drumming the stock shield causes. I believe the angle optimizer provides more clean air under the shield that stops the buffeting. I get plenty if air with the shield fully down and am looking throught the shield with it fully up. I never want to look through the shield, so I could probably have gotten the +3 +4. No biggy, the height is there if I ever want to use it. I listen to mp3's of books or music using my Sena SMH10 when doing long rides on the interstate. I have no problem hearing with the shield high enough that I just look over the top. If I get a low volume book, I use audacity to boost the volume, plenty of tutorials on the net showing how to do that.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
I had a Calsci and hated it. Too narrow at the top to prevent buffeting around the ears and shoulders. Rifle is more square and a lot wider at the top. The angle blocks are a brilliant idea. You could ride without earplugs depending on the helmet you have. It only seemed like a barn door for the first couple of days, now I'd have nothing else. 6'0" and got the +4 +5. I set it to look over the top, and as you raise it you get airflow at the bottom corners. Add a set of Baker Air Wings and you'll get more airflow if you need it in the heat, or partially block air in the cold. Works for me. Can't speak for a V-Stream, but I think it would be a good second choice, even better if one could make up some angle blocks.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
Rifle is quiet. I am much shorter than most of you at 5'6" I notice no difference really after I chopped down my rifle. More air on my arms and it is still a little tall. I use very bottom and up about an inch. Anything else and I'm just looking through it. I hate that.raYzerman wrote:I had a Calsci and hated it. Didn't like the calsci at all either but makes a good shorty for summer.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
It's 115 out here today. I'm not even riding right now. I draw the line at 110... There are some longer rides coming up (possible my first iron butt) and I don't want to do that with a stock screen. Sounds like the Rifle is winning the vote. Just a question of +4 or +5 on the height...

Re: VStream vs Rifle
At 6'1" you want the +4 wide + 5 high. And in the heat, you want those Baker Air Wings. Rifle blocks a lot of air from your jacket area. I won't ride in 100, that's just crazy.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
Hi. I had the Vstream, which is better than the stock screen, but there was still a lot of buffeting(I'm 6' 3")
and wind noise. I went for theRifle +5 +4 which is a bit of a barn door, but it does the job. It's very quiet,
and at full height I can look over(just) the screen.
Hope this helps.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
Installed the rifle tonight and took it for a spin. Amazing! I don't know why I didn't do this 2 years ago when I got here... With it all the way down, the air flows right into the opening on my helmet (but not turbulent air). Raise the screen to about halfway and I'm in the cone of silence and still looking over the top. Raise it all the way, and even at 75 mph+ (speed limit on I-15) I'm STILL in the cone of silence, with the exception of engine noise! I can even open my face shield at that speed. At this point unless I'm looking way down the road, I'm looking through the screen, but that's ok. At those speeds, I'll probably be looking further down the road anyway.
Well worth the money, if you ask me.

Re: VStream vs Rifle
I'll find out tomorrow if I agree with you guys. My +5 Rifle screen is in the hands of the Post Office.
I'm a short legged 5'11" ( 6'1" to 6'2" ass to head) my seat is in the high position and I have MCL triple clamps.
I hope to have smooth quiet air at freeway speeds.
