Airbox breather broke
Removing the airbox and I forgot to disconnect the breather hose shown in the photo. As a result, I snapped the nipple (!) off. It’s stuck in the hose. Do I need to superglue it back in place or can I just tuck the hose away during reassembly and ride until I die in a ball of flames?

Re: Airbox breather broke
I assume that is there to drain liquid (rainwater or condensation) and the filter to prevent dust from being sucked in.
I doubt superglue would hold. You might have luck with ABS cement (or JB Weld if there is enough space to build up a bit of a fillet). Anybody know if this is ABS plastic or polyolefin (PP or PE)? If polyolefin, probably no glue will be effective long term.
Other alternative would be to drill it out, tap the hole and use a threaded stainless steel nipple.

Depends on the plastic substrate - from their website:CollingsBob wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:57 pm I would clean it thoroughly and use Sugru

Not sure if I would want a flexible silicone rather than a rigid fix. (That is neat stuff, though.)

Re: Airbox breather broke
It's a drain in case you get oil (from the breather or water from the filter intake). Risk is very low that either happen.... drill a hole slightly smaller than a new rubber hose and stick the hose in so it's inside the airbox.. get one of those spring clamps like off the fuel tank vent hose or something like that... put it on the inside and call it a day. Dab of RTV if you want it to stick to just about anything..... clean the area first with isopropanol.
Note, the little filter further down the hose has to remain to prevent unfiltered air from entering the airbox.

This reply took longer than I figured, but steered the thread in a predictable direction.
If anyone cares, I'll be trying RaYzerman's fix.
We now return to your regularly scheduled thread shitting.

Re: Airbox breather broke
The easiest fix has been mentioned. Something along these lines at the local hardware store might be another option.

Re: Airbox breather broke
Agreed, that's a good option... drill hole, heat it up, thread it in, dab of RTV on the threads inside....
