Thinking of getting one to replace the Transitions visor of my Klim TK1200. The big question that I have is...can the Mirrored visor be used at night? Looking to hear from someone with experience with a mirrored visor.

I have one that's close to a mirror. Looks like something off a space helmet. You can use it at night. The only issue for all of them are that they are going to make it darker than it is at night.

I don't use mine often because I don't like the way it turns dark shadows even darker. Bad things can hide in those dark corners, for that reason alone, I don't use it often.

I run primarily mirrored visor, have for years.

I wear prescription glasses, with Transition lenses, and visors are UV coated, which means my glasses won’t transition to dark when in the bright sun. Thus, I ride with mirrored tint.

Daylight hours it’s on all the time, whether clear or overcast, even at dawn or dusk. Night time is where you’ll need to be careful. With street lights, I can still use the mirrored at night…helps with glare. However, on rural roads with little to no moonlight (new moon or overcast), I switch to my clear visor. It will be too dark to see any details, and downright dangerous/foolish to ride that way. Other than lifting the visor up (I don’t recommend), having a clear one to change is the smart way to go.

I always have a clear and tinted visor on trips, with the one not used in my tank bag.

You may notice your reflection inside the helmet, depending on the angle or if you have it cracked open. I see this helmet doesn't have a built-in sunshade...... need sunglasses with a clear shield. Transition lenses won't work behind a clear shield either.

I ditched my mirrored and dark shields. I don't want to carry an extra and was never comfortable after dark with a tinted shield.

So all I have now is a clear shield. If the sun is bright I use my prescription sunglasses or the pop down dark shade on the helmet.

Yeah...I know. The Transitions shield (which I really like) is $149.00 versus the Clear, Mirror, or Dark Smoke at $49.00. Just looking for a less expensive alternative to the original Transitions shield.

I pretty much thought that's why you were looking..... curious did the Transitions shield "stop working" or did you scratch it up?

It got pretty messed up following Marty and Jason through the Badlands (lots of chip seal roads) on our way back from the Black Hills Roundup in 2018.

Good luck in your search. I always have to have the dark shield on, and occasionally the flip down as well if I'm going into low sun. Light smoke is used at night.

My go-to visors are mirrored. I prefer them. I ride with one in the dark round five days a week. They aren’t all the same. Check the light transmission. I have a silver/blue mirrored and a gold mirrored. I use them both heavily. The gold lets a little more light through.

Neither is probably as safe as a clear visor in the dark. But I’ve got a lot of miles on these.

Mine are factory Shoei. We used to have to order them overseas, because Shoei wouldn’t sell them in the USA for helmets that had a drop down sun visor. Then, inexplicably, they started selling them here. .

I've got 75,000 miles on my Klim Krios Helmet with its Transition shield, It has a few scratches and pits but remains serviceable.
I have replaced the Pinloc shield once and probably should replace it again. Pinlocs are soft and scratch easily on the inside, just a little dust rubbed in makes them quite hazy. My helmet came with the Transition and a clear shield. I've never used the clear shield.

I don't ride at night very frequently but the times I have has been cold and the Transition shield remains dark when it is cold.
That I don't like.

After four years and a few miles maybe I'm due for a new helmet?

Desires are:
- ADV style with a beak
- Internal shield
-integral quick-release strap fastener
-Flip Front if possible
-quiet

Wondering if Novus #2 or 3 can take the scratches out.... it won't fix stone chips.... I assume the Transition part is not a coating that will rub off..... bring it to EOM we'll have a lookie.

The Lexan (Polycarbonate) Transition Visor has a hard coat that will become scratched and cloudy if polished with Novus #2/#3. Works the same as on an OEM Yamaha windscreen. Polycarbonate requires a hard coat because it is a "Soft" but tough plastic.

I've been wanting a mirrored visor every since I saw Jerimiah Case's FB page.

Mine do. If it gets really bright I put the dark visor down.

I wish Shoei would make a transitions shield for the Neotec 2. It’s really what I need for routine use.

The Shoei transition shield is a game changer on my RF1200 and I love not having to pack a second clear shield for after dark. The transition doesn't get supper dark but I've never been riding down the road thinking it wasn't dark enough. I also wish that shoei made the transition sheild for my Hornet X2 adventure helmet.
