Garmin Zumo XT Screen Protector
Did anyone buy a screen protector for their Garmin Zumo XT? I'm tempted to go without the screen protector unless someone can talk me out of it.

Probably a good idea, I've got a small scratch on mine. Order placed for the one above.

Great idea and find!! I thought about it a little over a week ago since I put one on my cell phone and just hadn't looked into it yet. Order placed.

Re: Garmin Zumo XT Screen Protector
I've invested 30 minutes into installing the screen protector. I cannot remove all of the bubbles from it. I'm down to 4 small-ish (about the size of a pencil eraser - 1/4" in diameter) bubbles on the edge of the protector. I used the credit card and move most of the bubble off the edge, and then when I stop, it returns to its original size. Like the protector is slightly warped.
All bubbles are outside of the screen - and the GPS still works. We'll see how it works when it gets wet.
Very disappointed in this product.
Edit: Amazon gives me to 7/22 to return it or exchange it. I asked for another one and I'll try again. Because the bubbles come back, I'm going to guess that the protector was slightly warped - I'll try another one.

Warped screen protector or a tiny speck of dust. Doesn't take much.

Re: Garmin Zumo XT Screen Protector
How did you make out with that screen protector? I know this is a little late at this point but this is the one I got. It went on super easy, once it was lined up, I dropped it on and it pretty much attached itself. All I had was one small bubble close to the edge, after rubbing it three or four times I was able to push it off the edge and I can hardly tell there a screen protector on it.Hppants wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 5:23 pm I've invested 30 minutes into installing the screen protector. Re: Garmin Zumo XT Screen Protector
The replacement was better than the original. I still have one small bubble at the edge of one side outside of the viewing "screen touching" area. AFAICT, it does not affect he usability of the unit. I can squeeze that bubble out, but when I let go of the screen, it comes back. This one bubble is in a different location than the original bubbles were on the original protector, so I'm going to presume that the protector has a slight warp or adhesive defect in it. I'll live with it for the (presumed) protection.Steel_Gin wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 9:30 pmHow did you make out with that screen protector? Overall, I'd give the product a 2 out of 5.

Re: Garmin Zumo XT Screen Protector
Sounds like a piece of dust to me if it's doing that. I've done these things a bunch of times because I have a clumsy kid who has a tablet and these things have done their job. My first application went perfect as the tablet was brand new and it was my first time doing this so I followed the directions that came with it diligently. I got a little lazy the second time around and learned my lesson. Had a couple of pieces of dust that didn't get properly cleaned off and it showed. It's definitely all about the prep for sure.

Cleaning with alcohol is a good start when using screen protectors. No, that does not mean pouring good tequila on the screen. You know what I mean.

Wasting good tequila on that would indeed be classified as Alcohol Abuse.
I took it off twice, re-cleaned with the alcohol wipe, and "taped" it everywhere. If there is a piece of dust on the glass, I can't find it.

Re: Garmin Zumo XT Screen Protector
The dust can be between the screen protector and the adhesive tape they use, not necessarily anything you are doing wrong. All these things are made in China and on the lower end of the spectrum, which means quality control isn't super high.
Having said that, I buy a fair amount of clear acrylic and cut it into lots of pieces. You'd be amazed at how much crap is either embedded in the clear acrylic or between the acrylic and the protective film/paper on it. It's pretty irritating to pay $260 for a sheet of acrylic, peel the paper off, cut it into pieces and make things out of it, only to find a bug embedded about .020" deep in the acrylic.
Bugs and dust happen in clean environments. Probably nothing you're doing wrong at all.

I have the same one as Steel_Gin. Installation couldn't have been easier and no bubbles.Steel_Gin wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 9:30 pmHow did you make out with that screen protector?
