New FJR Questions

On the way home from SFO I thought about how awesome the 06 has been.
When asked how I like the FJR, I've answered that if I totaled it I'd buy a new one the next day.
Since they're getting discontinued I think I need a new one now. I know there are other options, but when the FJR is gone that's it. WTF is the Ultimate Edition with the gold wheels and trim, a picture of a Unicorn? All I see is black with black wheels.

Mike, the Ultimate Edition is not available in the USA...

When was it announced they are discontinued? I've heard that rumor year after year and there is always one in the lineup.
Did I miss something?

My understanding is discontinued in Europe due to emission standards.
No announcement of discontinuing in USA.

Yes, the FJR1300 (as well as the Super Tenere) was discontinued in Europe due to the new Euro 5 emission standard coming into effect. 2020 was the last year it sold in Europe. As a send off, Yamaha created the 'Ultimate Edition' of the FJR1300 in limited quantities that sold alongside normal 2020 FJRs. It was all balck with gold wheels, a gold stripe down the tank, and a few other minor changes.

Hang in there Powerman, this past week I've seen buyers of Gen3's with real low miles... jeez, don't they ride these bikes.... there will be deals to come, always. Tell me what you want, I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Mine's not limited.
I just limit where I use it. Went on a two week trip out west and it worked great!

Unless something was announced today, there’s no indication that they’ve been discontinued stateside. I’m looking at a 2021 but waiting to see what’s up with the 2022.
I’d never admit to checking the Yamaha website daily this time of year.

Gary and I talked about it on the way home from SFO. Just got a text saying his wife was less than receptive. Going to the dealer for a brochure to put on the refrigerator. Sticking to the not making them anymore theme. Waiting for the right opportunity to pose it.

These type of conversations needs to stop. I keep telling myself that my '09 (with non-limited aftermarket CC & non-recall 5 speed transmission) runs down the road just fine.
I may try that "brochure on the fridge" strategy with the T7 though... Anyone interested in a DRZ400?

I'm rapidly approaching the dual sport market. Another 6-ish months and I'll be ready.
Me thinks the DR650 might be a better fit, arse wise....

Yeah, I can see that. But last Sunday I cruised down to New Bern, NC. Down southeast. US70 was running 85-87 mph average. Thanks for the reminder tho!
