New to forum, purchased 2005 FJR. Replaced 2000 BMW 1100RT. Maybe I can save few bucks on repairs. The FJR is definitely faster. Look forward to learning more on forum and chance to meet more Oregon FJR riders!!

Welcome. That's got to be quite a jump moving from the RT to FJR.

Hi and welcome to the FJRiders forum. Here you will get a chance not only to meet riders from Oregon but all over the nation.

Sorry you had troubles with your BMW - I wish it were not so for I too would then have a BMW. Wishing won't fix reliability and expense issues though.

I found the FJR needs few farkles to make it a good longer distance sport touring machine. Here is a list of my farkles.. Now the bike is awesome.

Thanks for the greetings. I really enjoyed your Farkles listing fontanaman. Previous owner has set me up with a few additions and I just added MCL bar riser. Need a new tank bag and the stock seat will have to go. Don at Mr. Ed's in Albany did seat on RT. Sounds like Russell seat owners are very happy.

Anything to raise the bars back and provide a better seat is an improvement over stock. How far you go with that is only as question of opinion and how much you are willing to spend. Since the FJR is a affordable bike, I choose to blow my cash on farkles. Also consider upgrading the suspension as the stock suspension is soft and wallows when pushed and make the bike feel heavy.

One of the reason for purchasing this bike was previous owner had upgraded suspension. My riding skills probably keep me from realizing how nice the upgrade is. I can compare to old bike and the FJR feels set when cornering. No rolling waves as I caled it.
