Probably old news.
I don't remember seeing it earlier.

Well, after 73,357 miles mine has worked fine. Guess I will take it in at some point.

This affects a BUNCH of Yamaha motorcycles over a number of model years - not just FJR.
Look at Transport Canada notice
https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/ ... esult&pg=0
Other model years (including all Gen II) are included in separate recall notices in Canada. Not sure about the USA but I expect it to be the same - if not now, then eventually..

Yes, I see that now. For some reason I was thinking the recalls discussed before were both for 2016+.
I thought this was something new.

I haven't received a notice from Yamaha, but the dealership I bought it from called to inform me that my 2015 is on the recall list for the front brake switch.

I got a call last week, and received the recall notice in the mail yesterday. I forwarded the info to the new owner in OK.

Not to be left out, I got my recall notice this morning.
There isn't a dealer in the area I would trust to take the plastic off my bike and put it back on without breaking things. But, that's for the I'd Like To Complain thread.

My Tracer 900GT was included in the front brake switch recall. I received the notice today. My FJR is too old to have the brake switch recall and I'm not braggin'.

Just got mine. I, like I expect most, do not have any symptoms. If this is something I decide to put off, is there a time limit to get this done?
Thanks,
Don.

FWIW, this is the $80 (USD) switch:
To plug in the connector the windshield and front cowling have to come off. It's invasive surgery.

You may or may not have had symptoms... it has been a legit problem.... intermittent ability to engage cruise have been attributed to intermittent brake switches (and possibly clutch switches), and many discussions were had about cleaning them with a spritz of contact cleaner to ensure the plungers were returning... meanwhile the recall implies there is a contact corrosion issue.
If you do not get the recall done, it will show on the vehicle history it is still an open item. I would recommend not taking too too long to get it done... only remembering the 2006-7 reflash required for the altitude sickness, that eventually expired after a couple of years or so.
Only if a dealer does the repair can the recall be cleared.

If your Gen III FJR is from the years with the Self-Diagnostic Function (diAG), a problem with the front brake switch will set Fault Code No. 90. You can check and see if your brake switch has previously had a problem. Bikes with OBD II a problem should set Error Code P0504. In a car this would cause the Check Engine light to come on. Dunno how the FJR would handle this DTC code.

Excluding 2016-up.... it might be better to say MAY set a code, and that will show on the LCD display. Some cruise engagement issues were resolved by cycling the ignition off then on and it would magically reset with no stored code. No biggie though, just clear the code and see if it comes back.... I'd just go get the recall done if it were me.
I am not sure what the OBD II does for this issue, have not had one in front of me.

I'd be willing to trailer Naomi 45 miles one way, have the tech look at the bike, then I would swap the part out.. the tech could then visually prove installation and clear MamaYama's database?

I've done that with a dealer on a couple of occasions. It's, the dealer that worked with me when the CCT trashed my valve train. Unfortunately (really unfortunately) the mechanic that I would trust to do anything to my FJR drown when camping a few years ago.
