A rare December ride around the Black Hills!

It was 50F when I left Spearfish and 49F when I returned right at dusk. I saw 57F just before Sundance WY, 43-47F between Newcastle and Custer, 53Fcoming into Rapid City SD.

The section through Custer State Park and then North up the Iron Mountain Road was the highlight of the ride. I don't often ride Iron Mountain Road in this direction as my standard visitors' loop has us going the other way. It was a special treat today as I only encountered two cars to overtake on the way North and they both were considerate and waved me on. No sand in the corners, no Buffalo on the road.

The heated jacket was welcome my new OBR ADV Mitts really keep the cool air off of the back of my hands especially after I modified the retention mechanism with some short bungee cords to suck them in closer to the master cylinders.

The Weax looks good through the middle of next week. Maybe 1,000 miles in December? We will see.

Late season bonus ride John. Can't beat that!!

Record temps (and dry) in the PNW today. Between Christmas lights and decorations I managed to sneak 150 lovely miles with all the bikes!

It's too deep, this is a bike not a canoe.

1K winter miles is impressive for sure. Good for you John!
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!
