Slow Throttle Return

2018es - throttle return seems slow. What's involved in lubing the cables on this bad boy?

Can't help you on lubing the cables but I have seen this if there is insufficient freeplay in the throttle. (I have never needed to lube cables but I am not familiar with the throttle-by-wire on the Gen III+. Did you adjust to try to reduce freeplay and is it the slow return same with the bars at either extreme of the handlebar range?

One of the very few things neglected on my bike. I just took it apart and lubed up the cables from the bar. All seems well.
Don't think I ever lubed the old bike (271,000 kms).

Take the cable assy apart at the grip and put a couple drops of light oil in each cable end. Don't get carried away- what you put in the top eventually comes out the bottom. Next year you'll be wondering why all that crud is collected down there.

The Gen3/4 cables go to the right side of the TB's... I agree with a little lube at the grip end. Ensure the throttle tube is not binding on the handlebar as well, but don't lube with anything sticky to attract dirt... dry moly spray might be better there.
At the TB end, there is the throttle cam/return spring/pivot points... but again, try not to overlube and use a bit of something that doesn't attract dirt.
As for throttle freeplay, it should be adjusted to near zero, but if you take out all freeplay, it may not work smoothly or return properly... teeny bit of slack is needed.

Had it working better by lubing the cables.
I pulled the tank today to clean things up before it goes into surgery and decided to look at the cables near the throttle bodies.

Sure enough, the return cable was at a bit of a weird angle.

Repositioned it and Ray’s your uncle.

Perfect return now.
