2016 FJR at the Dealership.
So I went to pick up oil and filter for my 2013 FJR. I see this pretty blue 2016 FJR sitting there. It's an old new stock bike. No miles.
They had a sign on it priced at $13,999. Not sure that is a good deal? This dealer is pretty good about not adding BS fees so I think that is the actually price not counting Florida sales tax and registration.
I looked and the 2016 has 6 gears and the LED lights. So I am a little bit interested, but not jumping at the bit.
My 2013 has 70,000 miles and is in good shape. Now that I own the MT09 it will be awhile if ever to wear the 2013 FJR out. So really the 2016 would be more to get the enhancements. Also I love the blue. It's just a beautiful bike. If I made a deal on that one I would probably never have to buy another FJR.
However, I am not going crazy. I figure there will be a deal down the road. Maybe I will start looking when the 2013 hits 100k miles.

Given any luck, they will sell it before you need to make any decisionsdanh600 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 2:53 pm ...I see this pretty blue 2016 FJR...No miles...$13,999.

I think she likes me buying new bikes, so she doesn't feel guilty when she wants one.
I texted her a picture of the bike and she said "get it". I texted her a picture of a gun and she said "You don't need another gun!"
Dollar wise the gun would be lots cheaper.
That bike has been at the dealership for a long time! Don't think they sell many FJRs.

Re: 2016 FJR at the Dealership.
I have that same problem. I stopped at a local motorcycle shop for something and spied a '15 with zero miles in '16 with a ridiculously low price. It was behind Jennifer's desk because she liked it (a sales person I've known for ~20 years). My wife says OOOHHHHHHH, I like it. I rode a zero mile '15 home on a bitterly cold January day.
It even happens with riding. I'll be mowing the lawn and she will come out and ask why I'm doing that on such a nice day. Two hours later we are in the mountains of Vermont or the coast in Maine.

Re: 2016 FJR at the Dealership.
Dan,
That price isn't bad for a brand new '16, however if it has been sitting there a while I am sure you could work something out. I paid $13,380 for my 15ES brand new in '15. That was a smoking deal.

Re: 2016 FJR at the Dealership.
Can someone tell if that is an A or ES from the picture?
I didn't look that close, just snapped a picture on the way out.
Even expanding the picture I can't read the sign.

Re: 2016 FJR at the Dealership.
KKB motorcycles said a 2016 with typical miles retails for $10,735. This one is zero miles so there is that, but still $14k might be over priced.
Also, they have been stuck with this one for awhile so I can't see them wanting to give me anything for my 2013FJR. Their stock is very low but I doubt a used FJR is desirable to a dealership that mostly sells 4x4, PWCs and dirt bikes.
I bet if I trade the difference is going to be big after paying everything out the door.
With a little price negotiation and if someone can confirm it's an ES I might still be interest. If it's an A or if the price is firm I am out.
I know selling my 2013 on my own is an option, but I hate selling vehicles on my own. I would rather be beat by a stick and let the dealer low ball me a little than to have to go through the hassle of selling a motorcycle.
I sold a few boats awhile back and it was an absolute nightmare. People are idiots.

Ok looking at pictures on Yamaha.
That bike bike looks to be an ES.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong!

Re: 2016 FJR at the Dealership.
It looks like an ES to me as well. I can't offer much help on the price, other than to say there's a 2020 not far from here, new, and they are at $16,000 for it, and it's an ES. Use that as a point of reference if it helps.

IS ES. It has USD forks. Upside down. Sure symptom of an ES vs. A.

Re: 2016 FJR at the Dealership.
Friend drove 500 miles for a new 2018 A for $13k, this appears to be a 2016 ES for $14k. For a period in 2016 Yamaha incentives allowed dealers to price the 2015 as low as $10k. My local dealer has a 2019 or 2020 A on the floor asking $14.6k.
I bought the first 2016 "A" my dealer had. Waited a couple months. No regrets getting A vs ES. Today I can use that savings to put a Traxxion suspension under it which I expect to ride much better than what the adjustability of the ES would give me. Plus, even if I was just to rebuild/refresh my A it would cost a whole lot less than to do the same for the ES.

Re: 2016 FJR at the Dealership.
In '15 the dealer in Manchester NH had sold their full Yamaha allotment of FJRs. As a reward Yamaha told the dealer that they had a small number of '15 FJRs in a warehouse that haven't been built yet and offered the FJRs to the dealer at a very low price. As a result, I paid less for a new '15ES than I paid for my new '04 ABS. And without the silly PDP, a required $500 non-refundable deposit and an indeterminate delivery date like I had to do with the '04.

Yeah, there were some screaming deals on the 2015s for quite a while if you were willing to drive and pick one up.

The 2015s only have five gears and are therefore 16% slower than a six-gear FJR.
