Bike Cover
Anyone have a brand they are in love with for a bike cover? After a few overnight rides, I decided my life would be much easier if I had a cover to throw over the bike... out of sight, out of mind kinda security.
The prices all seem pretty similar, so I was just curious to see if someone had a brand of cover they liked enough to recommend.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Bike Cover
Nelson Rigg
Agree. While a full cover might offer better protection from the elements and prying eyes, it doesn't do much good at home because it was too bulky to take. I have the NR. (large size needed)
There is also a half-cover for Goldwings sold in a number of places. Showchrome makes it (or rebrands it), I think.

Re: Bike Cover
Yeah, the Nelson Rigg doesn't cover a lot like in the picture....but it travels well, keeps eyes off most of the bike, and best of all keeps the rain off the seat and the water draining harmlessly off the bike.

Re: Bike Cover
For just keeping the dew off, Laminar sold a stretchy cover (like the Geeza stretchy stuff). Pouch locked into the gap of back seat to rear tail plastic and sits on the rear seat. Open zipper, unroll the cover up to and over the windshield. Mostly call it a giant seat cover. I have one, works good. Packs very small if you have a pillion along. I would recommend drying it out on a sunny day occasionally.

Re: Bike Cover
I love my Tour King half cover. Packs small enough to take on the road. Covers enough of the bike for overnight frosts, rain, etc.
I can get 3 or 4 for the cost of some other "road trip" covers. They last more than long enough that you will outlast even the best for less investment. Even with the Geeza IBR rider discount they offered the year I rode, they couldn't get close to the Tour King price.

Re: Bike Cover
I picked up one of the Nelson-Rigg half covers half covers before my Spearfish trip in 2018. Love it for the FJR. Covers my top box up to my windscreen. Keeps the seats dry and covers the tops of the saddlebags. Packs up nice and small.

Re: Bike Cover
Those little light half covers work nice to keep your seat dry and like people say keep prying eyes off most of the bike.
Also, surprisingly when my wife travels with the Motor Maids they always put covers on their bikes because people sit on them. Don't know how anybody in their right mind thinks it's OK to sit on a strangers bike. Maybe the ladies have more trouble cause most of them ride low seat height bikes or trikes.
Personally, I have never had a passerby sit on my FJR.............that I know of.
Last trip my wife did she was sharing a room. The lady looked out the window and ran out the door. A family was sitting on her trike taking pictures. The lady my wife was traveling with is an ex military nurse. Needless to say they got an ear full. My wife said it was actually quite humorous.

Re: Bike Cover
FYI. I got a rain seat cover from Russell (Day Long) for my Russell seat. Probably the worst $40 I ever spent.

Re: Bike Cover
I have one of those and keep it tucked under the back of the seat and rolled up so the rest quickly deploys during a stop in the rain (for getting back on and riding more). When parking, I use the half cover. Again, it packs small.

Re: Bike Cover
someone at EOM in Boone had a half cover - it was black and looked like it fit very well; maybe it was Philjet??

Re: Bike Cover
I have a Nelson-Rigg full cover and love it. Covers the engine, both hardcases, and the front fender. Packs up to half the size of a bed pillow. Rides beautifully under my pillion pack on long trips.
(Forgot to take it to Boone.)

Re: Bike Cover
I bought a full cover on amazon a few years ago. It was only about 20$ and they accidentally shipped me 2. It serves the purpose, and works well. I figured for the price I could replace it every couple of years. Compact and lightweight
