New guy from the East Coast of Canada
Hello from chilly Nova Scotia!!
I picked up a 2012 with fairly low km last Aug and fell in love with it pretty quick!!
I did a 6000km tour down to NC and back around Lk Ontario last June on a KTM Duke 690... that bike was a riot around town, but not much of a highway tourer!! So after that the hunt was on for a replacement! I found the one I have now and there are zero regrets!!
There is also a Suz DR650 in the garage and an '81 Yan RD 350 that I rebuilt from the ground up. So with a highway bike, a tractor for playing in the woods, and my little 2-stroke for around town, things are pretty well rounded!
I'm looking forward to hanging out here and learning a few things about the bike (wiring in a new-to-me Garmin and suspension options are top of the list).
Now I'm just counting the days until the salt is off the roads and I can get back out!!
Thanks guys!!

Re: New guy from the East Coast of Canada
Welcome Angus
I am currently living in Fredericton but expect to be moving to the Halifax region within the year; hopefully before winter. Compared to Fredericton, we consider Halifax to be in the (relative) tropics. There are a fair number of FJR owners in the Maritimes, especially Nova Scotia. Hope to see you on the road sometime - I get down that way a few times per year. I used to have a 2007 but sold it just shy of 300,000 km. Currently have a 2011.

Re: New guy from the East Coast of Canada
I'll see what I can do @CollingsBob!! The wife and a friend were there just before Xmas and consumed a few too many bottles of wine... she was unwell the next day (I really, really tried to be sympathetic... honest!!). So I may have to wait a while before she's ready to go back!
Hate to tell you @FJRoss, but if you were hoping to make the move before winter, you're a little late!! ;-P Things are -8 (and a -20 windchill) so it's not feeling terribly tropical today!! Just have to put your head down and keep on truckin until the better weather arrives!!
Thanks for the welcome guys!!

I was bored yesterday afternoon so I was on Furkot laying out possible routes for an Iron Butt ride... a couple options would definitely swing me through your neighbourhood Bob!!

There was a nice pub near waterfront in Halifax called the Split Crow. I don't know if it's still there. I really liked that place.

As long as there is no salt on the roads. -5 or plus 5, makes no difference.

Re: New guy from the East Coast of Canada
I was out for a ride Xmas Eve and it was +3 then again Boxing Day and it was -5. Both lovely days, but that was before the salt went down on the roads! If we had a good rain or two to wash the salt away, I'd be game!!
@RacinRay... they say the Split Crow has been around since the 1700's in one form or another. I expect it'll be around for a while yet!

Re: New guy from the East Coast of Canada
It was there when I was a graduate student at Dalhousie U in the 1970s and was still there when I was last in Halifax.
I expect it has reinvented itself a few times since its origin but I remember it as a decent pub from my school days. I don't think I have been there since maybe 1980 or so!
