N line dash clearance on Gen III with v Strom guards

Post by griff »

Looked for this issue with V Strom hand guards, but couldn't find an answer. I am thinking about putting on the N line dash, but am concerned about full lock clearance with V Strom hand guards on. With my one inch Genmar bar risers, these guards do hit the 'tits' on the dash now, but not significantly. Soooo, does anyone have the N line dash with V Strom hand guards (or other hand guards) and have any significant clearance issues at full (or close to full) lock? Thank you for your insightful answers on this Friday.

Your bike has tits???

I have VStrom guards and they don't hit, but that is because I don't have a dash shelf.

Interesting, my guards do hit the tits, maybe because of the bar riser?

I have a Gen III touring windshield and VStrom guards. At full lock the guards just touch the windshield at full lock. My radar detector on top of the clutch reservoir touches the windshield first. Both touch regardless if the windshield is completely up or down.

Griff I have a dash shelf and just installed the vstrom hand guards. I also have the MV bar risers like the helibar risers. The guards just barely hit the shelf at full lock. Not enough for me to worry about it.

Same here, although I did file the contact point with the shelf back about 3/8”

Full lock. It is due to the riser and full rear setbackImageImage

I wanna say that Philjet09 has a dash and the 'Strom guards. I mentioned something to him at one of our Tech Days and he said that he modified the dash - I wanna say that he removed a little bit of dash material to give the guards enough clearance.

Thanks Geek. I ordered the dash, so we'll see what kind of modifications it need. Maybe bring it to a Tech Day and let the collective modify it. NOT

Barkbuster storms hit. Even more because I have them up high to provide the most hand protection. Moot since you ordered one. I really enjoyed my dash. I know you’ll like yours.
