3mm isn't much. You might end up with vibration. May want to consider putting a brace between the two legs to stiffen it up.

A two beam joist hanging bracket got reworked to make an all in one cruise control pad mount, a heat controller and radar detector mount. You may have to do something to damp vibrations because the GPS is big and somewhat heavy. It looks like a good start.

Looks very similar to the one that came with my dash shelf.... 3mm angle is sturdy.... what are you attaching it to?

I probably got the idea for this looking at your bike although I don't remember specifically seeing it. And I think you are right on the sturdiness, it took a lot of hammering and pushing and grunting to get the tilt just right. The dash shelf has way more flex in it and I'm thinking of fastening down the front tab of the shelf with a well nut instead of the zip ties I've used in the past...just a little nervous drilling into the nose of the bike, but I haven't looked closely whats under there.
