When installing the fz1 mirrors on my 2015 the mirror bolts seem to be too short... has anyone else ran into this issue?
Mirrors came off a 2004 fz1 I bought them off Ebay and yes they are OEM Yamaha mirrors. I do have light brackets installed as well. Just seeing if I'm the only one or if anyone else has ran into this and if so what they've done to over come the issue.
Thanks

Yes, to install those mirrors with Light Brackets you will need to procure yourself some Tee Nuts to make it all work.

Re: Gen 3 FZ1 mirror install
I have that setup ^^^^ on my FJR, it helps that WinPro and Fred W are riding buds of mine. I did the install about 3 years ago and it has worked well and the view out back in the mirrors is outstanding. Dave/WinPro may be out of the parts business, I know for sure he is no longer making the BigFoot, Air Induction Cover Plates and RamBone stem stands. That said:bigjohnsd wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 11:24 am Yes, to install those mirrors with Light Brackets you will need to procure yourself some Tee Nuts to make it all work.

The red FJR is Fred's, he and Dave collaborated to get the setup to work and source parts. The Furniture Connector Cap Nuts came from a European company -- maybe in Denmark. Fred had to buy a bag of them, they were not available as piece parts. While the pieces were uninstalled I notched the oval base and the light bracket before painting so I could run the driving light wires through the mount without drilling the faring or running wires along outside the faring. If Dave isn't making part anymore you will have to do some imaginengineering. Dave & Fred's idea is a good starting place.

Re: Gen 3 FZ1 mirror install
The FZ1's here have ~22-23mm of thread, a nut and washer will eat up 6mm of that.... I don't have the bike here but IIRC there was lots of thread available...... I suspect your light brackets (if the WynPro ones) are the killer.... perhaps take a lesson from the SWMotech mirror extenders, they had a threaded tube which went on to the original mirror studs, into which one put a short bolt on the inside end... effectively extending the stud. Sorry, don't have a pic.... if you go here and download the instruction sheet, you'll get the idea... get a tube or round bar, drill and tap?

Thanks Gents! Now that I've seen the FCCN's with Wynpro's set up I can't believe I didn't think of those... I was thinking more on the lines of Ray's bolt extension. I mostly just wanted to see what others opinions were and what they have done.

We need pics when it’s done. I’m about tired of not being able to see behind me. I need the push. And a source for these mirrors new.

Bill I believe you can order the mirrors new off of partzillabill lumberg wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 3:13 pm We need pics when it’s done. I’m about tired of not being able to see behind me. I need the push. And a source for these mirrors new.
Other than that I found the FCCN fasteners at my local Hardware store. Just FYI the bolt measurements for the mirror bolts are M6x1.00. The wynpro link that Big John posted has the Pics and written instructions and it seams well written and straightforward.

Re: Gen 3 FZ1 mirror install
If you order FZ1 OEM, they need to be from a 2003-2005. As a much less cost alternative, you can order the EMGO's for the same year, direct replacement. I damaged my OEM set, so got the Emgo's, every bit as good. Lube the pivots before install. Ebay sellers... I think I paid $18 each.
