Ram Phone Holder

I know some of us have used the Ram X Grip phone holder. I had pretty good luck with mine for a while but I think the springs got weak and one day I sacrificed an Android to an early asphalt grave when going over some pot holes because I got too complacent to use the rubber corner gripper. I no longer trusted it after that.

Then I found the Ram Hol PD3 and installed it before leaving on my northern adventure trip in July. It has a positive grip on the top and bottom which I really like. Thought I'd post up in case someone is looking for another option. 9k miles without a hint of trouble so far.

I have put nearly 100,000 miles on one of these holders and have had virtually no problems with it.
I bought it after adroitly catching my Android phone after my X holder lost its grip while riding down the Interstate.

Now, if I could just adapt an ultra-thin Inductive Charger to work with this holder. So far no luck

Yes, I love this phone mount. Works well with my phone. Just bought another one for the drz. The phone is in there solid. And quickly and easily able to remove phone and put it back in. Sometimes 1-handed. That's what I didn't like with the X-grip and the rubber band thing.

Yep, I too lost my android to the x-grip as well, tried to catch it but not as adroit as big john.

I used xgrip, but it’s just sketchy. The rubber band thing is just a band-aid on a bad design. I also used a universal ram finger mount which I kind of liked, though it was far from ideal. I went to slipgrip and I’ll never switch back.

Add my name to the former X-Grip users list. I moved on to the Slip Grip and love it. Phone specific so you'll likely need a new mount when you get a new phone but you know for sure it'll hold.

I used the XGrip for a long time, with the rubber band web. A few months ago I went to a QuadLock. IMHO, it is worlds better. I had no specific complaints about the XGrip, except that the rubber band would invariably cover something on the corner of the screen that I wanted to be able to see. Without the band, I always felt that it was ok in holding my phone, but I was never 100% confident if I were to hit a bad bump. The QuadLock has erased that anxiety. The only drawback to the QuadLock for me is the need for a custom case for the phone, but that's part of what makes it so good. I just find myself swapping cases depending on whether I'm on the bike or in the truck. YMMV, of course.

You guys using any "Stay open" apps on your phones" With the increase in security I've increased security on my phone since I stopped using it on the bike, but those security measures aren't compatible with the use of gloves. What are you guys using? No security still or something else?

My iPhone uses FaceID to unlock. I can just raise the front of my modular helmet and it unlocks just fine. When using Waze, the phone stays unlocked and the screen is on until I turn it off. Of course my gloves are touchscreen compatible, so I can do simple manipulations if needed. I use voice control a lot as well.

Been giving the Hondo Perfect Squeeze a thought. Made by a motorcyclist and I got to play with one a few weeks ago, very well built. 10 percent discount with "advrider" code still works.

I just am still gunshy about putting my phone back on the bike. If I lose another one, that conversation with the wife will not go well. Also, now the above lock issue persists as well.

What's holding you up? Guess I don't have a clear picture of that back of that mount.

The Charger Pad needs to fit between Phone and the Mount.
I've got an inquiry out to a guy in China about a rectangular Pad which might be suitable.

I may have to manufacture new hold-down clips on the ends to make it work.

EDIT: Here is a video that shows all aspects of the phone mount https://www.amazon.com/vdp/55f573169ae0 ... pFASRiLHqc

Ditto. I found this when I finally caved and decided to mount my Android after yrs of just chucking it the saddlebag. Never a problem.

FYI, the aforementioned Hondo Perfect Squeeze has one model with built in wireless charger if you are looking for that and willing to shell out the cash.
