I noticed when I stopped after my first day of my 2600 mile trip that my OEM trunk cylinder lock looked loose when I stuck the key in. I looked at the back of it and both screws were loose. Glad I didn't lose them. I kept them finger tight during the trip. Today I put red Locktite on both screws and tightened them up.
I double checked the 2 screws behind the sidebag locks as well. They always looked fine when I've checked them previous times. They were still fine today also. I backed one of them out to see if the previous owner Locktited them. Nope! I guess I've been lucky all these years. I Locktited the 2 screws behind the locks of each sidebag with the red stuff.
Good to go now for quite some time. Glad I finally took the time to prevent a problem in the future.

Great that you caught it in time. I almost never use the red stuff. If it is In a place where you can't apply heat, it could be permanent - maybe not a bad thing for the case locks...

Re: OEM Trunk Cylinder Lock Loose
I think the red would be good for those particular screws.

I'm in the "no red" camp also. Blue or even the purple small screw threadlocker would totally do the job of stopping those screws from backing out AND would be easily removeable if the lock cylinder failed (not that uncommon). There is always the cutoff wheel/grinder to the screw head option after using red locktite.
