I've had Pandora, one of the original 50 Canadian bikes, since 2002. I spent some time in those days contributing to the community and building the knowledge base, but drifted away when the focus shifted to automatic clutches, ABS linked brakes and cruise controls, mostly just lurking when I visited a forum.

Recently, Ray suggested I should check this site out, so I've been lurking here for a few days. Just thought I should say hi.

Thanks all for the welcome. I must say there's a few familiar handles here!

Yes, I'm still living near Huntsville. Yes, I'm still working, although now for the benefit of the good (and sometimes not so good) citizens of Jane and Finch. (What can I say? I'm an adrenaline junkie.)

The conversation with Ray that led me here actually started out as a discussion about updating some of the old Micapeak stuff such as the valve shim tutorial. He'd like to see a complete FJR tech library assembled here. I don't know how many of my previous contributions are still relevant though. When was the last time someone had to do the Barbarian Jumper mod and install riv-nuts? 07?

As for the long term test, the jury is still out. I had to change another valve shim this year, and the fork seals, and the steering head bearings. Plus the exhaust header had a vibration crack and a couple of years ago the centre stand broke. Oh, and one time the ignition switch contacts pitted and the waterpump shaft seal had to be replaced. Just last year I fitted a new rear rotor. Only 280,000kms and sometimes it seems like the damn thing is falling apart. However, the front wheel still waves goodbye to the other traffic when I ask her to, so I guess we'll keep the test running for a little while longer.

Huntsville Ontario Canadia. In Cabin country...home of CFR2007...and close to lots of fun riding. Especially if you ignore speed limit signs and the Mounties or Ontario PP ignore you.

Torch, sorry to hear that your FJR isn't working out for you...hope it's just a one-off. But you would help us all a great bit if you started testing a 2013 and up Gen 3, since your Gen 1 didn't pan out.

I think some of your problems could be from not riding it enough. The mechanic I know you are you will fix her up just fine! I now have more klicks on mine than you on yours. I never thought I would be able to say that.

I forgot about that one. Although, to be perfectly accurate, he didn't ignore us; he turned around and gave chase. He just let us go after we had our little chat.

He's about 45 minutes south of me. He did a few prototypes, but I don't think he ever really got into production. It is a cool novelty, but honestly, I prefer sitting inside the tractor cab for that kind of nonsense.

I can't argue with that! Unfortunately my seat time these last few years has been somewhat limited. SWMBO has back problems and can't (won't) ride her bike any more, and can't even take long rides two up. We also have a slew of grandkids now, which is weighting the summer recreational time towards aquatic activities.

How many kms on your 04 now?
