.... and in my opinion, it is by far the ugliest FJR ever made.

"Matte Dark Purplish Metallic Blue" <<<<<< I'm not making that up. This is Yamaha's official name for the color.

On a $20,000.00 touring motorcycle marketed to people my age?

Really?

(sigh).....

Doesn't .ca mean it's Yamaha Canada site?

Not USA site I believe...and the price is definitely 'nadian.

You are correct, Wheatie.

The US bike is the same color, they call it "Matte Phantom Blue".

https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport ... /fjr1300es

MSRP for the '18ES is $18,000.00, and none of this changes my opinion one iota (whatever the F an "Iota" is....)

This is very disappointing. I sure am glad I found another '14 after my crash. With any luck, this one will last a long time....

Once the load setting is chosen, the system automatically adjusts both the front & rear damping rates based on the load setting. If the rider wishes to "tune" the settings further, there are 3 "main" settings (soft / std / hard) to choose from. Within each of these 3 main settings, there are another 7 "fine tuning" settings available, for a total of 21 damping settings. The "load" setting must be chosen / adjusted with the unit stopped but running, while all other tuning can be done "on the fly". All adjustments are done via buttons on the L.H.S. switch gear. Same color for US. Price converts to about the same. Looks fine to this early 40-something dude. Same as previous years, different colored plastics. More of the same formula. Meh... I'll stick with my 2007 that's long paid for, built just the way I want, only 60k miles young, and raring to go.

Wow! That's just what I was hoping for in the 2018 model.
  • Some form of dark blue again, again, again
    * No engine revisions
    * No engine power revisions
    * No chassis revisions
    * No body work revisions
    * No rolling stock revisions
No danger to my bank account because I have no reason to replace my AssFault Gray '15ES. At least Yamaha continues to offer new FJRs.

You know Alan, I bet there is a certain vendor familiar with these here machines...that could paint yer FJR exactly the colour you want.

Don't worry, I won't tell Helen.

Well I like the color. Doesn't matter what I like because I'm not yet in the market for a replacement. But when I am, I might be snagging a low mileage used one of these.

I wouldn't have expected much other than BNC from Yamaha so soon after the last revisions. In fact I was surprised the last revisions came as soon as they did. They fixed the unnecessary sixth gear thing everyone complained about for so long. Far as I'm concerned, the current version is just about darn perfect and makes me wish I WAS in the market for a new one, but I'm not.

I said just about perfect because it doesn't have DCT on it yet. When it does, it will be absolutely perfect and I might be willing to part ways with my beloved old 07AE. I might even be tempted to buy new.

I like the color, just like I liked the blue 16's. I like them better than the red ones.

My '13 is only getting about 6Km per year on it for the last couple of years, so as much as I'd love one, I'm having a really hard time justifying keeping the one I have. $1400 yr just for ins!

... but then I go down to EOM or SEO and all is forgiven.

I like the color.
I was really hoping for an FJ-07.
Since I’m a few years from needing to replace my FJR,
I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Maybe someday.

Why doesn't mamma Yamma give us the multi-colored ones like the Euro versions? Some of those were kinda nice.

I'm wondering what a "lead angle sensitive cornering headling system" is...a little proof-reading goes a long way on a corporate web site, methinks! :roll:

I refuse to pay for an FJR with a Matte finish. I like it shiny. I cannot see this actually selling, but I am not a marketing genius. The "color" isn't bad. The finish sucks.

My '15ES in beautiful ASSFault Gray only has 31K miles. If something happens to it that I survive, I will find a '16 or '17. I am not paying for a matte finished FJR.

I agree with my friend hppants. This is the ugliest (in fact the ONLY ugly) FJR to date.

But I've got another 50,000 miles to go on this one, so I won't be looking until 2020.

I'm not getting a rise out of it so I think it's the current blue without shiney.

Nice touch on the black frame though, hard to clean but looks cool.
