TCS

I don't have an FSM for the 2014 yet, so I am wondering how exactly the TCS works.

Does it just prevent wheel spin or does it work in conjunction with other sensors and systems to control other aspects of traction?

It references speed of the bike to the speed of the rear wheel. If the rear wheel starts moving faster than the bike it cuts throttle to minimize wheel spin. I don't know for sure, and would have to look at the manual, but I believe it uses the rear wheel ABS sensor.

I figured it was looking for disparity between the two sensors.

I wondered if it had some other sensors as well. The FJR isn't keen on spinning the rear wheel from my experience, only lifting the front.

And my cajones aren't big enough to pin the throttle on gravel.

Yeah, generally if I am on gravel I am not on the throttle. Where it is helpful is if you are riding pavement and lose traction.

Interesting observation from my Calibrated butt dyno. I think the FJR, when got on hard, will haze back tire (with a bike tire on it). Adding a Car Tire makes it hook up noticeably better. Traction control seems to REALLY let it hook up.

I've had mine activate only once. That was while leaned over and accelerating through a right hand yield lane soon after a light rain shower. The back stepped out ~3 inches and and came right back. Nice and easy.
