I took off the helibars risers which had a place for a RAM ball.
So...What do you guys with more stock setups do for a RAM ball mounting location?

I have one in the unused mirror hole on the clutch perch and one on a tech mount steering stem.

All of what the above guys said.
Not now, but at times I have tried all of them.
Now is just the left mirror mount and the center of the Heli Bridge.

Is there an aftermarket steering stem but available? I took the factory one off thinking I could Chuck it in a lathe and thread a hole into it, but the center drill in the steering stem underneath is not large enough to provide clearance.

What are you doing with the RAM ball?
I have a stem mount, with a 17mm ball that fits perfectly into a
Tylt Vu inductive charger.

Doing just that. However, I already have the RAM stuff...
...But that looks damn tempting.

I use a Ram Bone that I bought for my Gen 1 years ago. I heard they were discontinued.

I have a Ram ball attached to the center steering stem nut. Found a Ram ball that had a female end.
I know my dad hollowed out the material underneath the cap somehow....
I had first modified it to fit a garmin ball mount. Now I have everything attached using Ram. so everything on the dash and handlebars are interchangeable.

Motorcycle Larry has a stem nut threaded 3/8 for a RAM ball. Of course, none of you know that because you were banned from even mentioning MCL, LOL. And seriously, it is questionable whether they are still doing business in an efficient manner. Lots have had issues waiting for stuff.
Meanwhile, I like my stuff up where I can see it without taking my eyes off the road, so made my own dash shelf. You can add RAM balls as necessary.

I agree. Being able to see one's balls is important. Especially if you put them on the dash.

There are a couple of other alternatives.
Migsel makes a mount that attaches with the two screws at the front of the tank behind the steering head.
My personal mount is made by a member of the FJRforum. His forum name is 08FJR4ME and he builds some damned excellent aluminum masterpieces.
His real name is Dave Wynn, he owns Wynnpro. He does this mount, the BigFoot kickstand foot and the PAIR block off covers. A truly good man.
This is the mount on my bike:
