Returning to the FJR

Hi all,

After a 13 yr absence from riding an FJR (I've been a Bavarian Baron in that time, please don't hold it against me).

I am exchanging my 2010 GS for a 2013 ex-police FJR & can't wait.

Oh & I'm based in Oz so lots of wide open roads to see just what she can do.

Cheers,

TDS

Welcome to the forum TDS1970. I used to ride a BMW too but not now. I had an '87 R100RS converted to an RT - a POS - it was the only bike that left me stranded. Argh..........

Welcome, to our new Aussie friend, and make yourself at home!

Question, do you plan on painting your bike another color, or keep it white?

Welcome!! I'm sure we'd love to hear about that FJR. Curious as to what rear shock they installed on it. I believe they retrofitted the originals.

That is the bike that I wish I could buy. Or at least the color.

Welcome. Wanna switch bikes after I buy my new 15??

I'm sorry but that is strike one & two against you. It would only been strike one but we have had to put up with KJ and his land barge K1600GT for the last few years so we grade harder now.

That is true but KJ is cool and fun and his K1600GT is pretty nice. This guy may be cool too. And this guy had the good sense to go back to the FJR. So can we just call it one strike?

Since he did go back to an FJR maybe I was a little harsh so on review I can go with one strike but KJ definitely is on two strikes and has fouled off a bunch. I think the next pitch to KJ should be tight and about chin high.

I agree with the Polish synchronized swimmer. I wished for an BMW R90/6 when I was 14, but that was when BMWs were made how they were supposed to be made, and the competition was an AMX HD Sportster. I was also too young to know any better.

Hi LKLD,

I'll be keeping it white, I have a few mates who also have ex-police models & they say they never have problems on the road, one has named his bike Moses as it parts traffic, mind you he does also wear a white Shoei helmet so I think that helps.

WheatonFJR,

Better keep going with the strikes then, I still have. 2013 GS & a Kawasaki Mean Streak.

You may see a pattern, all shaft driven, never had a chainer/belter and I won't (anything else I could say will sound crude so I'll just leave it there)

Ga-day mate! (did I do that right?)

Welcome aboard the choo choo train. Hope you enjoy your time with us.

How many miles on that white beast? I'd enjoy seeing a few pictures of her when you have a chance.

Welcome back to the FJR - some say you can take the rider out of the FJR, but you can't take the FJR out of the rider. I tend to agree....

Hppants- close mate, (G'Day) it's got 15,700 on it, I haven't taken delivery yet, it's coming from interstate so I'll probably see it in the New Year, I'll put up pics ASAP thereafter.

Welcome. I like the white, as you allready have a clean drawing board for adding you own set of graphics.
