Seriously, has anyone tried to transport a medium sized frozen turkey in a saddlebag?

Not joking!

If not, a Givi E52 would...

Make sure you take a picture if you do find out!!

I carry one of those stretchy nets with the hooks for just such occasions. If it doesn't fit in the saddlebag, strap it down to the seat. And take pictures.

When I read the title I was a bit confused. What exactly does he mean by this question?

Will an FJR saddlebag win in a fight with turkey? Will an FJR saddlebag satisfy a turkey during lovemaking? Will a live turkey fit in an FJR saddlebag?

All valid questions, but thankfully not what the OP wanted to know.

I have carried a 14 pound (frozen) turkey in the sidecase of my ST1300 before and it was no issue. With regards to weight, the saddlebag should handle it fine.

Like others have said, that bungie cord net thing works wonders. My Givi V47 will certainly do it.

I'm willing to bet an fjr could handle a turkey, but don't you think there's enough turkeys in the cages on the roads already??

Upon identifying this thread topic, my own take was thinking that the OP was wondering if a Yamaha FJR1300 could handle overtaking a Pirate riding a pirate ship with open exhaust and a twitchy wrist - AKA "a Turkey". My answer was going to be a resounding "YES, OF COURSE".

But alas, my imagination got the best of me.

Given the actual question, my answer would be:

If not, then return the turkey and buy a smaller one that will fit. You really don't want to eat turkey for 6 days in a row anyway. Turkey sandwiches, turkey soup, turkey chilli, turkey tacos......

I have not tried it...although I'm sure it would fit.

Take your helmet in with you. The saddlebag will handle a helmet, so make sure the turkey isn't bigger than your helmet.

Shoot, throw that frozen turkey in your lap. What could possibly go wrong?

Here is the answer:

No problem on fit and no issue on the weight or handling.

Ps. You guys are all a bunch of turkeys!

Really? That is it? The pic is nice, the bike is clean and wonderful but the information is incomplete.

How much did the turkey weigh? (Not the rider, the dead bird in the sidecase)
Was the heat from the exhaust any help in defrosting the bird?

And not relevant to the FJR discussion, but how are you planning to cook this dead bird? And are we invited as a thank you for all of our generous help and advice?

How about the pumpkin? The one on the shelf, will it fit into the side case?

Who keeps used pumpkins on the shelf after Halloween? Is it plastic? I wanna know more about the pumpkin.....

I'm still wondering about the live turkey. I want photographic evidence of either outcome...

Wait, we may be misjudging him. He may have just been showing us that he had beer to share. That way we know he is supplying the beer when he invites us over for Fried Turkey.

Waiting for our invitation...
