TechSpec

Post by KMW »

Has anybody used the TechSpec products? I'm looking at getting their side case covers and tank pads. No matter how many times I remind her my wife continues to kick the tops of the cases every time she gets on and off, so the tops are just getting shoe scuffs like crazy! And I'm getting Motoport kevlar gear soon, which I've heard can scuff the tank a little.

My main concern is how well they stick. I would hate to spend the money only to have them start peeling off in a month.

Also, any opinions on the different patterns/thicknesses they offer. I was thinking I would go with the Snakeskin. That's all they offer the side case ones in, so then they would all match.

The snakeskin.

Also, they are a forum supporter as they offer donations every year for EOM so please let them know that you appreciate them for this. Thanks!

I have the bag guards installed and a set of tank skins I still haven't put on. Wait until it is warm and let the bag pads heat up a little. Makes them relatively easy to install.

I've had mine on my bags for a couple if years by now, and they have stuck just fine. Obviously they are the snake skin, as that had the more aggressive adhesive. I bought them when they first came out, so there was another option I think. They recommended against the other type because of the curve. So far, the have been great. They look good and are very protective!

Thanks for the info. From what I see on their site, it looks like the Snakeskin is the only option for the cases.

I'm thinking of getting one of their general sheets too, to make some pieces to cover the silver strip on the sides just below the tank.

You might find one of the other ones on ebay, but I'd say no. The snakeskins are thicker rubber-like stuff, pretty good. As tank pads they grip very well. I just picked up the new scoot and it is getting a set all around, rear tank pad and bags too.
They do have a clear, but you'd have to cut your own bag guards from a sheet.

Call them and talk to them. I know they made a couple pieces for some people. They sent them a template and tech-spec cut it for them.

Also, I think they make a "stickier" adhesive for the sides of the tank. If I recall, the outward curvature sometimes doesn't stay completely adhered.
