Grip Lock

I'm wondering how many of you have used the Grip Lock on your bike overnight when on a trip. I have and am disappointed that by morning I find no brake pressure locking the front brake calipers. WTH!

I've use this lock on more than one bike and now I've noticed that the same symptoms are present with all of them.

Multiple emails to Hand_Grip. com complaining about this, have resulted in no replies.

Why is it that, with time, the brake fluid returns to the master cylinder releasing all brake pressure from the system?

The only comfort that I have is that the throttle could not be use by the thief/s, but the bike will still be long gone.

I've since changed the way I secure the bike overnight, but was curious in hearing what any of you Hand Grip lock users have to say.

Thanks for any replies.

I don't know that anyone uses one of those. They're mainly geared for scooters. Very few thieves are going to roll your bike away. They're going to pick it up and put it in a truck. The better ones will punch that lock and remove it in 20 seconds or less.

The good thing is, most thieves are looking for Harleys, sport bikes and scooters. Not to say someone would never take it, but the chances are less. The FJR's weight helps with that also.

Master cylinders aren't designed to hold pressure ad infinitum. If they were, you'd see a hard plated and very fine hone on them much like hydraulic power cylinders on heavy equipment...or, come to think of it, the forks on a motorcycle.
