Forums Upgraded

Good day/evening,

Many of you will notice that things look a bit different. Due to a screw up on my part while testing a new forum software version, you now have that new version without any warning. Thankfully, it happened while no one was looking and I was able to get it done very quickly. I've already verified that the new version of Tapatalk is also working, I know several of you are major users. If you have any issues with it, clear the cache in your tapatalk app on your mobile device and that should fix things right up.

If you do find any issues or have any questions, feel free to post them up here and I'll be sure to answer as quickly as I can. Some things you will notice right off, there is a "Quick Links" menu right below the forum logo. This adds a few functions folks have been asking for. There are many other changes, but I'll let you discover them or I'll post them up as I find them and have more time.

So, in a nutshell, sorry I messed up, but in the end, you all benefit. Happy New Year!

It's in the quick links on the upper left. I do the same thing all the time.

I like the new look...but where's the "like" button?

Thanks everyone.

El Toro Joe - It's true, almost every other board out there has that kind of feature. At this time, PHPbb doesn't, but I've been checking and there is a lot of discussion on making an addon that will do it. This is a whole code rewrite for PHPbb so it might take a little bit of time to get more addon's written for it, but I'll keep an eye out for that one.

My Tapatalk page changed a lot a few weeks ago. Was that you, or just a Tapatalk upgrade? I figured it was the latter. Either way, that's the last change I saw. If things look different between yesterday and today, I haven't noticed yet.

That would have been Tapatalk that made the visual change within the application. Also you may find that tapatalk isn't as needed for mobile browsing anymore. The new software puts the site in a nice mobile format. Though Tapatalk still has a boatload of features if you are tracking several forums.

Hope everyone is liking the changes. I might see if Wayne can make a few new logos and give you folks some theme options. Just in case some of you are a bit tired of the blue and white.

Galaxy blue with silver accents would obviously be the fastest loading theme. Only followed by Black Cherry/Silver. Just sayin.

It took me a minute to find the "new Posts" button.

Can you move it out in the open rather than the drop down?

The short answer is no. Unfortunately I'm not a php programmer and that would require a lot of re-coding. For now, you will have to get used to where it is, just like you had to get used to where it was before. I will however always look into a way to do the things you ask, I just know this one will be out of my reach for a while.

On a PC you can do this:

Left click the "Quick Links" icon.
Right click on "Unread Posts" and select to Save link as Bookmark (or whatever terminology your browser uses).

I saved it to my Bookmarks toolbar (in Firefox) and use it to enter the forum showing just the new posts.

Thanks, and fixed. I will say that the folks at Tapatalk are getting rather pushy about the no adult content thing. Seems every time I upgrade the tapatalk plugin this happens.

Oh well, screw em'. :ugeek:
