Mirror Extensions
Does anyone know if SW Moto makes their mirror extensions to fit the 2014 ES ? Their site, and that of all their dealers , seems to stop at 2013 and if you send questions to the dealers , the help is non existent.
I found these extensions worked well on the 2009 and would really like some for the new beast.
Thanks!

Re: Mirror Extensions
FZ1 mirrors allow you to see better and don't buzz. Just sayin'
Now the extensions that I put on my 06 would probably work up to 12 but I only saw them actually work on 06-09. The FZ1 mirrors which attach to the same points work on all Gen II and Gen III' , don't know about Gen I, never tried that. So, IMO without actually trying them, I'd bet the extensions would work on the 14. I did notice that the FZ1 boot was not quite as good of a fit as on my 06.

Re: Mirror Extensions
I dunno either, but their tanks bags are the bees knees, from the looks of them, but pricey.
Touratech makes some pretty cool mirror extension blocks.
I'm prolly going with a Givi tankbag with hard mount. And Touratech mirror extensions.

This is Twisted Throttle extenders on my 06
FZ1 on 06
Functionally there is no comparison, FZ1 is way better. The rest is just which you look you prefer.

Re: Mirror Extensions
The FZ1 option reminds me of my wife's FZ6R configuration and they worked well. Although I prefer the 'look' when using the extensions , I may have to consider the FZ1 option as I do not like looking through my elbows for hazards approaching from my six!

Re: Mirror Extensions
Interesting enough, the FZ1 mirrors suck on the FZ1(for the same reasons).....I am thinking about trying my set of FJR mirrors on my FZ1 now.

Re: Mirror Extensions
MNFJR05 from the other forum has the mirror extenders on his 2013. That is a Gen 3 bike so it should fit the same on 2014 and 2015.
Here is a picture he posted over there:

Re: Mirror Extensions
Geezer,
Not sure when you got yours, but if you compare yours with the ones on my 06, yours do look a lot slimmer and trimmer. Got mine from Twisted Throttle in 06.
Don't know why an FZ1 should be less effective other than possibly the mount points, but like I said, there is no buzz and I can see the pelican box on the rear in each mirror with no interference from my elbows.

Re: Mirror Extensions
I know this is a old thread but, I had the FZ1's on my Gen2 and added them to my 15A two days after getting it home. One of the better improvements for the buck IMO.

Re: Mirror Extensions
I had the extenders on the '07, but after discovering the thin cast mirror stay will break very easily in a tipover, no way I was putting the extenders on the '14. I swapped out to the FZ1 mirrors. I resisted this in the past, what was I thinking........... love 'em.

Yeah, directly behind you so the blue lights don't freak you out.0face wrote:FZ1's are the way to go if you want to see behind you.
I had them on my 2005 but I'm getting used to the stock mirrors on my 2013. I need to drop my elbow to see directly behind me but otherwise I think I can live with them.

Re: Mirror Extensions
I received a set of the SW Motech extensions from a "friend". It pains me to say it but... What the hell, I have to be honest. Cav47 sent me a set of these and that made me obligated to install them. Cav is a Good Friend and I appreciated the gesture. I had considered these often but it looked like they moved the mirrors more forward than out and would not do much good.
Wow. Or more honestly, WOW! These things work and work Very Well. Thanks Cav47. I owe you.

Re: Mirror Extensions
No you don't owe me.
I am a fan of them for sure. After picking up a pair, I knew I liked them so well, I was confident you would also. Additionally, I heard you neeeded an extra inch or two.
The FZ-1 mirrors are great, but just don't complete the look of the Gen3.
They also match the color scheme of the 15's.

I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

A pair of WHAT Cav47? And what makes you so sure I didn't have a pair of my own already?

I cannot imagine where you might have heard such a thing!

Re: RE: Re: Mirror Extensions
Gawd, you two clowns, get a room. RF, I thought he sent them to you because he doesn't like you. Gonna break your heart, but compared to FZ1 mirrors, those extensions suck. Only marginally better than the OEM placement. If Cav was a real friend, he would have sent you new mirrors. Lol....Redfish wrote:I have to say you have generated enough Good Will (for now!) that I will leave you with:Cav47 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2017 10:31 pm No you don't owe me.

Re: Mirror Extensions
I resisted FZ1 mirrors for years, preferring the OEM look and the extenders. It wasn't perfect, but OK. Through good fortune (Bungie) a set of FZ1's became available, and they look just fine..... I'll never go back to OEM, you don't know what you're missing until you try them. I don't know why I resisted for so long.

Rode it to work tonight, first actual ride with the extenders. Each to his own but these things work pretty darn well. I am very happy with them.

Yes. They fold easier than the OEM mirrors. I don't understand why the FJR just didn't come with these mirrors, as OEM. They're frigging awesome.NTXFJR wrote:So the FZ1's will fold up in a tip over?raYzerman wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2016 10:51 pm I had the extenders on the '07, but after discovering the thin cast mirror stay will break very easily in a tipover, no way I was putting the extenders on the '14.
