Cheap plasticy sounding rattle on Gen III's

So, ever since I got my Gen III a little over a year ago, I've been hearing this really cheap, plastic sounding rattle at low speeds over bumps. Others have heard the same sound on their bikes. It's been making me bonkers. I though for sure, it was caused by something not fitting right near the glove box. So much so I actually went as far as stuffing some foam around various bits.
Well, today, the temps are nice but it's raining (it's supposed to rain heavy for the next week), so it's a good day to finally get my Wynpro PAIR covers installed. My procrastination finally went by the wayside after taking delivery of these fine pieces in the spring.
As I'm fidgeting to get the heat-shield out without destroying it my hand brushed up against some wiring and I hear it. THAT f@$king RATTLEY PIECE OF SHIT FUCKIN NOISE!
I found the culprit! I have no idea what its for, but it has more than a normal bit of heft to it, and it rests against the plastic splash shield under the peak of the frame spars.
So after getting the PAIR covers installed (REALLY nice!) I zip tied the asshole part up tight against a bundle of wires. Took the bike around the block and NO RATTLE! Hallelujah!
The offending bit!
