Throttle feels soggy below 5k

I have noticed the throttle on my 05 feels a tad soggy below 4k. On my 07, it was overly sensitive. I understand some of the second gen bikes had an ecu update for that.
So, is this something specific to the first gen bikes or is there something that can be done to make the power curve more linear feeling? Once the thing hits about 4500, its like Sulu pushed the Warp 9 button, but before that, it falls on its face.

At 4K you're just into the power curve for the bike, but I feel as though I have decent torque to pull ahead at above 2500 RPM. It kind of depends what gear you're in. I think in 1st and 2nd the power curve is pretty lively in the lower RPMs and it doesn't take long to get into warp mode. If you feel it's just not running well there, I'd look at some standard maintenance like air filter, plugs and fuel to rule those things out.
The throttle cam on the 05 is a lot more predictable than the 06-07, but you have the same or more HP relative to weight and wheelbase. I always enjoyed getting back on the 05 after riding my buddies 06.

When I got the bike it had and still has a K&N. Its still clean, which means its not filtering yet.
I put some sea foam in the last tank and it seems to have had little effect.
I checked the plugs when I was doing the middle drive seal and they look good, not much wear and gapped well.
Maybe its just the nature of the beast?

All sounds fine. I use an OEM air cleaner, no gasoline additives and have always had enough power to pull the front wheel in two gears.

I just ran some sea foam to help clean up the injectors and intake valves a bit. The intakes were a touch grody when I looked, nothing I would call bad though.
I said the plugs look good. They do, but I know my XS11 was bad about having NEW plugs. After about 8K, it would get cranky and rough. New plugs and it ran like a sewing machine. Is the FJR known for this as well?

It sounds normal.... throttle cam is likely the thing..... takes a little more turning the throttle to get it going than on a '06-'07. But, check throttle cable freeplay and adjust it so it is nearly zero (leave a wee touch of freeplay). That will give you a better feel.
