New old rider

Post by Red »

Another new guy here . . .
Started riding, when I was too young for a car license. Been ridin' ever since, now with a deadly FJR and willing to use it!
Riding is the flying that I do on the roads. Gen2 FJR1300A, and an assortment of older bikes.
Love to fly, any excuse will do . . . 3000+ hours, hang gliding. Our mountains are still snowed in, but summer is coming!
RC gliders, for the very mellow days, or stormy skies.
Like doing the bike maintenance, but maybe I need a bike lift, these days. 8-)
Lots to learn on my new ride; never had Fuel Injection or ABS before. Hope to help, when and if I can.
Hangin' out here, just listening for a bit . . .
Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
Yeah, I ride motorcycles. I know why dogs put their heads out of the car windows.
Yeah, I fly hang gliders (3000 hrs.+). I know why the birds sing.

I used to fly RC as well. Miss it. Motorcycles are cheaper than RC helis though. Never tried hang gliding, but will soon enough. I imagine I need to drop a few pounds first.

Nice to see someone else enjoys flying at all altitudes.

Hey,
Thanks for the welcome, guys, although the animal pictured for me is usually a horse . . .

Silverback, you should maybe check out a local RC field, you won't believe the improvements (and the prices are LOWER). Choppers now fly with gyro stabilizers, and First Person Video puts you into the cockpit of any flyin' RC, using virtual reality goggles. My tandem hang glider is certified for 400+ pounds, so weight is not an issue, there. Check out the video (I mean, Al Roker!?!?) 8-) linked in the first section of my HG web page:

Red, First off welcome. Not withstanding the fact that you aren't riding a Gen I  , but being a HG pilot, you're OK in my book. I've got 4,500 + hrs. of helo time, just under 10 yrs. hang gliding, (instructing and a balloon drop, also under my belt) with kites ranging from a 17' Manta standard to a DingerWing Demon. Lots of RC stuff too, we got to talk. Oh, and like OM, I'll probably spend wayyy too much time on the website you linked.

Cajw,

If there is one thing I have learned, it is that almost everybody flies something whether it's kid on a skateboard, a teenager on a mountain bike, or a granny in her Ford.
It's all good. I'll be around, let's talk.
