hi, need help on troubleshooting a fork issue.
executive summary: "loose nut" applies to both the owner and the situation at had. jsns!
flat front at work.
total 2.5 miles driven on flat:
* work q/a requirement required 2.2 mi round trip @ 5-7 mph to secondary site.
* .3 mi trip to public road outside secured work site to await tow
flatbed tow, soft straps to lower triple tree, l&r, keeping bike upright via fork compression.
r&r new front THANKS EOM RAFFLE!
did NOT have fjr axel tool
* confirmed all parts accounted for
* used l side nut to draw in axel, retarding axel spin with successive slight tightening of pinch nuts
* everything locked down, parking lot only test ride.
first trip last nite. noticed loud klunk sound on road imperfections.
no exaggerated handle bar motions associated with road imperfections
brakes and front end still seem locked down.
questions:
can too much fork compression cause leak and odd sound?
will oil leak be evident? no oil on ground or forks noted.
wheel even slightly loose, will it cause amplified sound at road imperfections?
i think steering instability would be sign of wheel play on axel?
