Gen 1 mirror adjustment...

The right mirror is adjusted slightly where it shouldn't be. I think it coincides with the rear brake pedal being angle upward toward the outer tip.
On the gen 2, I took the time to remove the cowl only to realize I just needed to bend the mirror back down.
So on the Gen 1, will I be able to bend it down again, or is it fragile enough structure it will need replacement parts?
Thanks.

So in otherwords it may have been dropped? The bracket is stout enough you should be able to muscle it back where it belongs.
IIRC correctly somebody made up a flat metal plate with holes drilled to coincide with the mirror mounts.. This mounted to the mount, is going to make straightening easier.

Yeah, dropped before I got it. Muscling it back it is. The left side is fine. I have never understood why people complain that the mirrors aren't wide enough. I am not a narrow person, and have no problems...? On this gen 1, it would be nice if they were further back and more reachable though...

FZ1 Mirrors? Because it's what all the cool kids have!
I never felt the need either.

Lesse Name...Since you're smaller than my wife, your opinion is baseless. Barry should shut up because he doesn't even ride a motorcycle, and SilverBack, you have no idea what you are missing.
I said the same thing and rode with just blind spot mirrors stuck on for a long time. THEN I tried them. I'll never go back. I love my FZ1 mirrors.
So there!!

Agreed, I got my second FJR before I got my fz1 mirrors, I could see before but it's so much more now.

Maybe I will go to autozone and get some of those add on trailer towing mirrors for trucks and just try it out first... Heh.
Oh, and the muscling method seems to have worked. Now both mirrors are the same level. I guess I will try the same method with the brake pedal and my channel locks.

Brake pedal may require a bit of heat

Actually the gen2 mirrors are not even wide enough for my skinny ass. I just have never spent the money .... And probably won't. Maybe when I am on my second FJR.

I have 7.5 gallons of beer in my brew Closet. My last one is like 350 Calories for a 12 oz glass. So I am working on my figure. Maybe I'll get those mirrors yet. Its a Bourbon Vanilla Quad at 11%. Tasty.

For he brake pedal, I'd take it off the bike and work on it in a vise rather than risk damage to other parts.

Stock mirrors for 10 years. If you go fast enough you don't need mirrors to see what is coming up on you. Plus you should be looking over you shoulders .

I was happy with my stock mirrors until one day I needed new ones. Since people here liked the FZ1 mirrors I bought them. I think they were less expensive than FJR replacements as well. Once I installed them I realized how much better they are. I had been moving my elbow every time I wanted to look behind me without thinking about. With the FZ1 mirrors I was no longer looking at my elbows.

I bent the brake pedal back with channel locks. It worries me how easy that was...
As for the blind spot mirrors, I was riding the other night, and remembered another reason I wasn't in too big a hurry to get the FZ1 mirrors. When some jerk is too close with the brights on, I can just extend my elbows a bit and it covers up the glare from the tailgater. On my XS with the mirrors that are quite well set apart, that situation is quite different and much more annoying.
Which brings up another question, what methods do you use when dealing with tailgating morons at night on the bike. There are no dual brightness mirrors or auto dimming mirrors for bikes (maybe on Goldwings...?) On the highway, you just get out of the way, slow down and let them pass. But in the city, its more difficult to get away from the situation, because if you let one by, sure enough another will take his place and have his brights on or those obnoxious driving lights.
Ideas?
