Hello From Georgia

Post by Bob S »

Hello everyone!
Just purchased a 2014 FJR1300A on Saturday, 1/18. I have only been able to put 100 miles on it so far but can tell this will be my favorite motorcycle. I have been riding on the streets since I was able to obtain my learner's permit at 15. I've owned a 76 CB550, 82 Maxim 550, 91 FZR600, 04 R6, 06 FZ1 and finally the FJR.

I live in west Georgia and am fortunate to have some great roads within a very short drive from the house. My wife has started riding with me and that was one of the reasons for the new bike. I've always liked the sport touring segment and Yamaha has delivered lots of bang for the buck with the FJR over the years.

I'm not a heavy poster but do plan on visiting the forum frequently to learn more about the bike, gain some technical knowledge and see what folks are doing with theirs.

All of the kids are out of the house so the wife and I will have more of an opportunity to ride on the weekends. We may even try a group ride in the future, but our immediate plans are to try some overnight trips. So, I'll be scouring the boards looking for advice on touring.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the farm, bob. Enjoy the new wheels. Lots of good info on both fjr forums -- don't hesitate to ask questions here, lots of experience floating around here...

Welcome Bob! The eFn wife and I do a good bit of riding on the weekends in N.GA, E.TN and W.NC. We're on the east side of ATL. If you're ever looking for some company or some ride suggestions, give me a shout.

Welcome to the nut house. As Extrememarine suggested there is a lot of experience out here; this suggests we are old and we are; but we are good! You don't get old riding motorcycle for 40 years without being good.
Searching for roads paved with Asphalt, unless I am riding the mighty DR650 bushpig.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm excited to have the FJR and glad this forum exists for all of us.

@Bobby - I'll have to give you a call/message sometime for some of your favorite N. GA routes.

Thanks again,
Bob

Hey there Bob. I'm just up from you in NW Ga. My wife has her own FJR, so if you ever care for some company and timing is right, we certainly wouldn't mind meeting up.
Trying to be different, just like everyone else.
