I took a few painkillers, then went for a ride. The painkillers didnt last the length of the ride, but my smile did.

First since your accident? Looks like the next four days are going to be decent for Winnipeg so perhaps you will manage a few more rides. Long range forecast suggests Wednesday might be your last decent riding day - maybe for the season unless you factor in heated gear (and maybe snow tires). Our beginning of winter tends to be more gradual than yours so I am hopeful that I will be able to ride at least a bit for another month.CollingsBob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 6:36 pm I took a few painkillers, then went for a ride. Visited my old 2014 Root Beer..... located the passenger heated gear outlet for Dean...... then we noticed something on the floor.... right fork seal is leaking. Somebody will be paying me a visit to fix that in the next coupla weeks.

Rode it...(wishing I was in the SE with 'Bug) but nice 1 hr loop to warm things up well and keep the 'ol FJR fresh. Since the PNWet is (somewhat) back to normal, roads are extra sloppy with leaves falling and rain washed debris all over the place. Nice to get out though!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I rode 3 times in September, but I had to cut each ride short due to pain..I also found that weakness in my left arm affected my ability to ride. Extra time at the gym and physio exercises every morning have strengthened my left arm and left rotator cuff. The limiting factor now is pain from the scar tissue around the areas of the ribs that were broken.FJRoss wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 7:06 pmFirst since your accident? Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I just looked through that Vincent listing sold on BaT. I have no idea of what to expect (or how your bike would compare) but it seems to me that the bike in the listing was not especially "original" with LOTS of non-Vincent parts in addition to non-numbers matching. I have no doubt that it looked great but would expect the "upgrades" would hurt the value for a potential collector. (Or maybe people are after a good-looking bike that is, perhaps, more functional/practical than the original???)CollingsBob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:15 pmAn ad for the Vincent appeared in this months Vincent Owners Club magazine and will be appearing in the next issue of the Antique Motorcycle Club of Americas magazine.FJRoss wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 7:06 pmFirst since your accident? Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Gave the ole red head the day off. 1400 miles over the past 4 days and although she's certainly up for more, I'm not. I'll give her a bath this afternoon and park her in the stable.
Yesterday about 4:30 pm, with 400 miles under my arse, and CLEARLY smelling the barn, I decided to do something squidly. With clear traffic and clear skies, I rode the horse over the Mississippi River at 115 mph. On the other side, as I downshifted hard on the brakes for the impending left hand turn, I thought to myself:
I just love riding this motorcycle.

Yesterday - finally gave it a bath to rinse off all the Wayah Bald dust. Making out our December maintenance "to-do" list. Rear shock will go out for service, forks will be serviced in house, pivot point check and grease, etc.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I did manage to get out on the bike this past weekend...after dropping my daughter off at the airport, I drove back home, dropped off the SUV and picked up the bike and rode it to her house, as Jacqueline and I baby sat the grand puppy while the daughter is in Colorado. Rode the bike back home yesterday.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Yamaha Manager: Thanks for coming in to interview today, according to your resume you have been working for Suzuki for a while, can you tell me a little of what you did there.
Suzuki Engineer: I designed how the carburetor fits in the DR-Z400
YM: can you explain to me the design process you used there?
SE: Well, we figured out how to get it to fit perfectly in there, easy in and easy out. Then We moved things around just enough to make it just about nearly impossible to get the thing in and out without cussing a lot.
YM: We'd like you to start immediately. We have two projects we really need you to get on right away for the FJR project. We'd really like you to work on the air filter for the AE model and the right side headlight.

Road it to haircuts after work. Planing to ride a few miles this weekend as PA tenps will be in the 70s.
Edit: Saturday
250 miles today to Hazard's Distillery (seems like theme) rt 74 again. 75 south (awsome road)to rt 30, pickup rt 233 through Caledonia state park. Shippensburg rd to 174 and home. Amazing day on the bike for November.

Replaced the gear indicator on the 15 ES. Took a long time to get the part from Partzilla. 5th gear would come and go. Hopefully done with that now. Going to ride tomorrow. Almost too warm to go sit in the woods and hunt. Not sure the deer are even moving in this 80 degree weather.

Louanne and I loved that area, part of our summer FJR trip in 2012 through Indiana, Kentucky, VA, WV and Ohio, including SE Ohio and up in Amish country. Her first weeklong trip on an FJR and proof to her that that was something she could do. Previous to that trip, it was only weekends or day rides.

There's something that hangs onto the rubber weather piece on the right one. I got it done. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Most everyone on the east coast knows just how good yesterdays weather was. Hit the mid 80's on my bikes temperature gauge. I ride all year but this was going to be the last day this warm so of course I had to take advantage of it. There were some rain drops to dodge but it made for a really nice double rainbow on Rt11. As you can see, I passed another FJR rider also enjoying the day and met a nice guy who told me about a local riding group who ride every Tuesday and Wednesday in the Upstate. I am looking forward to meeting and riding with them. The whole day overall was about as sweet as the rainbow.
