Changed the oil and final drive fluids...winter is just around the corner, but may still get out for at least a few 1/2 day rides! Interesting that when I removed the drain plug it took very little effort and the yamaha crush washer wasn't crushed? I prefer the flat Honda 'crush' washers which I think gives better feedback on tightening (if that makes any sense).

Changed the air filter, which reminds me....
of exactly why I go so long between air filter changes.
Freaking PIA.

Today, I say, "Thank You".
Details are being worked into a RR, but over 3.5 days, Vader 2.OH and I logged 1783 miles. The bookends were some unsavory slab time, but the meat in the middle was absolutely prime grade A stuff. It sits with just a hair under 97k miles on the odometer now. Performance over those three days was spectacular whether slogging along at 4500rpms on the slab or bouncing off the rev limiter clawing for traction to make the second entrance at the Richland Balsam overlook (because every now and then, you have to do some Viking shit.)

This was the last fuel stop 8:30am Sunday morning, about 110 miles out from the garage.

New CCT arrived today with the green dot. Now I just have to psych myself up to tackle the install. Think I'll wait until the absolute last riding day of the year is over, which should be in a couple of weeks!

Oh, it’s okay to do. I mean if George/Escapefjrtist does it 3 times a day, can it REALLY be that wrong??gixxerjasen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 2:18 pmIt certainly isn't me. Wash it? LOL!
The FJR really does shine up well and is a bike I’ve loved since 2003.
I just am not retired yet and if given the choice will ride it over wash it.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Well all this kidding around backfired on me. I was thinking, how can I make fun when I haven't done diddly. So, no I did not wash my bike...I rode it up to the BRP in the late pm autumn fading sunlight. A painter's full palette of colors, dark greens, yellow greens, splotches of yellow, orange, reddish orange, reds, dark reds, flaming reds, all filtered in the afternoon sun, set against the blue sky, grey pavement, and double yellow curving itself into a knot at times...and all of this as in an impressionistic colored blur in the background as motion, velocity distorts the surroundings as the road winds back and forth as it attempts to climb these ridges and hillsides. Rpms range from 5-7k as gears and horsepower propel this two wheeled beast upward and onward from 1000ft to 5000+ feet in elevation.
I took a photo of the distant grey and steel blue ridges...providing a backdrop for Lucky13, my FJR brought back to me from a distant land in a constant whirlwind and spray.
The lowered orange glow tells me its time to go. I send out a few texts of my intent. It was a glorious use of time, arriving home amped, pumped up, and sure that I have the best bike on the planet.
I will wash my bike another time. Today I rode it.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Nice garage but man how do you keep it so neat and organized? Let me guess, if you took a pic of the other end of it there is a huge pile of stuff that you moved for the photo Looking at that just motivated me to add another winter project to the list.

I enjoyed just riding it to the office today. I’m trying to decide between Texas, Key West, or just a holotta Appalachian riding for late November.
