Last several months (since I turned 80) It's been more difficult for me to ride around town (I use it for shopping). Few weeks ago I went on a ten day trip (regular with a group to Scotland), didn't enjoy the riding at all. Decided I was losing what few riding skills I might have had, I would finally hang up my helmet when I got home..

90% of people reading this will know what's coming.

Came home, dumped it in the garage.

Next shopping trip in the car, so frustrating with the traffic.

Finally brought myself to hose some of the dirt off the bike, if I am going to sell it, at least let a potential buyer see the colour of the paint. Noticed the front tyre was well worn. Even though not quite down to the wear indicators, that would put off a buyer, so at least give a purchaser something they could ride.

Put on a new BT023.

All of a sudden it's an absolute pleasure to ride, on my next town shopping trip I only have to think about where I want to go instead of manhandling the bars all the time, it's almost as if I’m 18 not 80.

The pig has morphed into a gazelle.

So, threat of eviction lifted, at least for a while.

Man, you had me there at the beginning. Then, it turned into one of the best posts I have ever read! NICE!

Changed oil and filter. Day before that I washed it.

Mac - what an inspirational message for the day. I had no idea you were that old (forgive me).

Indeed - there is still hope for all of us.

Ride on, my friend....

I can't believe I’m that old. Guess I wouldn't be riding at all if I did actually believe it.

Mind you, it probably won't be long, bike sometimes feels even heavier than it really is. Also eyesight suffering from glaucoma, lost a lot of vision in one eye. If the other starts, I’ll be shredding my driving licence.

Damnit, at this point I had a solution for this, but then you started listing other stuff.

Just back from a great 3 days in the WNC mountains. The weather was perfect and the foliage pristine all over. Stayed in Maggie Valley and Cherokee and of course hit all the hot spots. Found a nice remote stop to fly the drone at the top of Cherohala Skyway. Some of the leaves were past peak at 5,000 plus elevations but were great below as you can see in the pics. Took the BRP to head back from the beginning in Cherokee for about 125 miles then down one of the twistiest roads in NC, RT 80 famously know as the "Devils Whip" to loop back home. I think they have worn out the devil and the dragon to name roads out there don't ya think?

Got it inspected in preparation for renewing the registration. It's only 7 months overdue. :(

I rolled the bike out of the garage on Tuesday to go for a ride. Turned the key on and nothing! Noticed I had left the tank bag charger plugged in. Bike hadn't moved since EOM. I had mounted a RAM wireless charging phone holder. It quit working on the way back from the West coast. Found the USB plug that they provide for the power supply had come unplugged. It came with a piece of rubber that was a pain to get installed, so I thought it wouldn't ever pull out. Removed that and wrapped it with heat shrink. It's not coming apart without a knife now. While in there I tapped into the phone charger switched power supply and installed a dedicated power source for the tank bag. Last time that sucker is going to get me.ImageImageImage

What's the toggle switch for on your "D panel"? Is that the oil spray?

It's a 3 position switch for my LED lights. Connected to a skene controller selectable for 10, 20, and 50% power. Only on 100% with the high beams.

Rode to notary to get it registered and unfortunately pay PA sales tax. New tag and 45min later I'm sitting waiting for inspection. Then, ride the long way home.

Edit: well on the way home i found out the traction control works. Turning left and got a little to spunky. Gad.

Went online last night to do the way overdue registration now that it's been 24 hours since inspection and they'll let me do it. Was totally prepared for the old "You waited too long now you have to go into the tax office" but no, must have slipped in under the deadline. Registration is in the mail and I've got a printed receipt so I'm good to maybe ride a little this weekend.

Not that I've let it stop me yet, but at least I don't have to dodge the Popo.

Had everything all prepped and ready for some stuff that came in from Amazon today to put a map switch on my Power Commander V I recently installed. Loaded up the map that was on it and my converted PC3 Wally Useless Pickles Smoothness map so I can compare them. Drilled the hole, installed the switch, lifted the tank and ran the wiring. Buttoned everything back up. All I had to do was put the tank bolts in by the steering head and put the seats back on. Second tank bolt dropped and didn't hit the floor. So....

Found it. All done now, but took twice as long and turned a zero cuss word project into a full blown hissy fit.

Pulled out the airfilter today. It looked like an old furnace filter, uniformly gray. 29k mi., I guess it's time. Got my compressor and plug kit stowed under the seat. All prepped and ready for the next two trips.

Installed 4/5 of the T-Rex guard system. Discovered my "complete" socket set doesn't include a 22mm for the front axle nut and didn't want to risk marring it with anything, so it'll have to wait til I get to the store to get one. Set had a 19mm and a 24mm. Call it a noob mistake as I'm only a recent "wrench on your own bike" convert.

It breaks my brain that I'm like "Man, it's 92F out, almost too hot to ride really" and then I get on the computer and see someone putting their bike up for the winter.

Already? I figure I have another six weeks or so (or until the first salt) and your winter doesn't start any sooner than ours.
