Kamloops to Nakusp and CFR 2022
As we left Kamloops the weather ahead looked somewhat ominous.
But the threat never really materialized
The roads were great
We had an FJR lagging behind us from Vernon to the ferry across Lake Arrow. It turned out to be our friend Dave Dykes
All three of us just made the ferry.
The ride up the East shore of Lake Arrow was spectacular
And many of the usual suspects are here.
Nakusp is a beautiful place

AWESOME!
I loved taking fokker/Fauquier ferry...last time I took it was in 2016 with Dave and Sylvie.

Sunday - Nakusp BC to Eureka MT
It was a grand day!
Early start tomorrow-may try to go all way to Spearfish, may stop in Billings.
Montana is a big state diagonally from NW to SE.

It was a good day to ride!
I left Eureka MT just before 0700 and rolled into the garage at home 12 hours and one minute later.
Just a small difference between the InReach GPS tracker and the Odometer.
Time the engine was running
Time the engine was shut off for fueling, potty breaks, and a Breakfast Burrito.
Today's average speed
It was a beautiful day
And then the camera battery died and my spare was dead too.
The Yellowstone River, which parallels I-90 for many miles, is as full as I've ever seen it and there is still a lot of snow to melt.
Miles for the trip Home to Home
The End!
Next big trip will be to LaPine Oregon over Labor Day Weekend for "Ray's Last Hurrah" don't miss it!

Bravo, John!
SkooterG left the Outpost yesterday at 0700 hrs as well. He planned to ride the 1100 miles to AZ straight thru, but left open the option of making a rest stop. No word of how things transpired.

Home! 1300 miles in 23 hours. Much of the ride was a struggle from a mental standpoint. I ain't no Iron Butt no more. I feel like dogshit and am going to bed. It's funny. Peeps are always like how the Hell do you live in Phoenix? It's SO hot! Well, I don't know if it's global warming or what, but I was stuck in an hour of stop and go traffic on I-15 in Salt Lake City where it was 101 freaking degrees! I was roasting! Eventually said, "f*** it!" and started lane splitting. I am assuming it's illegal there and go ahead, I dare you, ask me If I care!
Great trip! 8,000 miles. Great scenery. Some shitty weather. Outstanding fellowship.
Now, I got to get busy. Flight departs for Frankfurt early a.m. July 4th.

Thanks for taking us along John. Line has never been out west and we're are headed out to the Calgary Stampede. We plan on touring around BC then heading back across the i90 corridor to see the sites. The Black Hills are on the hitlist for a quick pass through and I'd love to stop by before the long drone across SD. This will be in the last week of July.

I'll be home. You will be here for the early vestiges of the Sturgis Rally, setup and early arrivals.
Get a campsite in the Spearfish City Campground

It’s reports like this that haunt me. Meaning, the adventure that I have never seen before makes me dream/scheme of going there someday. I can’t possible think a trip to Alaska proper could be less than 3 weeks. I do t want to wait until I am retired in 10-12 years, but I also would t want to be rushed.

I can guarantee you don't want to wait until you retired to go for a ride to Alaska or any other darn thing. At 66 my bones are not what they used to be. I keep telling myself I need to ride more to get into riding shape but I am becoming skeptical. As Warren Miller, a famous ski movie producer said, do it now, if you don't you will only only be one day older before you do.
Here is the the thing. Despite being in the same shape, in fact losing ten pounds recently prior to CFR, I had a hard time riding a far as I did three years ago. For me this is rather discouraging but I can't change it so if I can influence somebody to seize the moment then it was worth sharing this personal detail.
I hope wheatonFJR does not love this post. I know I don't.

What was easy for me at 65 in 2017 was/is much harder at 70 in 2022.
I have to ride with the thought of managing the swelling in my legs now.
The 790 miles/12 hours on Monday took two days with my feet up to recover from.
I am a firm believer that none of us will be laying in a bed under hospice care wishing we had worked another day instead of going for a ride!
Do it now while you still can.
Memories are forever, and so are regrets!

Despite your new position and sense of self-importance, I'd even drag you along with 'Pants in 2023.
But, you will have to
keep up Cook.
