Went for a nice ride.
Stopped at the Yamaha dealership. They have almost no new bikes.
Said they could get me a new FJR. Confirmed that 21s are not subject to recall. If I wanted a 20 or older new stock they probably could get it. They would rather do the recall if not done.
They have done 3 recalls. Customers are satisfied.
They have the part to do my brake switch recall. Decided to keep the 13. Valve check and a few other things while recall is being done.

I don't believe they can legally sell it to you unless the recall is done first.......

Bought C Clamps for assisting to keep the T30 in the valley during mounting. Than I drank JD and called it a day since I was so pissed off already. I’ll give the bone splice the workout tomorrow getting the T30 rear on.

I think his message was they would rather stand behind their work as opposed to another dealer's.
They feel they have it dailed in after doing 3.
Seemed like they didn't mind doing them. Sold there or not.
They have no bikes to sell. Service and parts is the only way to make money.

I don't know what tire changer you using but regardless heat is your friend - use a space heater if you have one. I never had any luck with C clamps, they don't stay on the tire very well. Mount lube helps get the tire in the valley. It took me years to learn the proper technique. Good luck.

Them beatches need to be hot as fuk, then they go on ok.... I just put one on for a buddy, left it in the tar warmer for half an hour, it got real hot. It slid on OK but we still used a coupla woodworking clamps. Yep, lube the valley....

T30 and entire rim from left to right including the valley needs to be wet with good tire lube. Not WD40 or silicone spray. When I start the far side the tension helps hold the near side when I squeeze top and bottom beads into the center valley.
Then if you get it almost on but can’t get a spoon between rim and bead, use the bead breaker to push the last bit on. Happened to me on latest T30 Evo front. Before I took it off the NoMar I walked around to the unfinished side then pushed down with everything I had by hand. Slipped over in about 30 seconds.
Another thing I do is use two Yellow Things to advance around the rim holding the bead from coming off.

Dan - you and i are fishing in the same hole. I'm thinking (Planning??) on buying a new FJR as my retirement gift to myself next year, if I can find one.
I'm told that bikes manufactured on or after November 2020 are built with the upgraded transmission parts.

2020 part numbers for tranny gears are the latest.... B96 prefix. To be safe, 2021 will just have to have the latest.

Had new tires mounted earlier in the week, finally had a chance to install them. Got the bike a good bath, some wax, and some Graphene Ceramic spray to see if that helps keep bugs off.
Heading out Friday for 3 days of fun. Unsure where that fun will happen, but it's gonna happen!

Got a big ride at the end of the week, hadn't ridden it in like six months aside from riding it to get it inspected. Took it for an hour shakedown of the twistiest roads east of Dallas, 4-5 good turns. I'd forgotten how to ride it but it all came back to me. All running good as expected, she's always ready to go whenever I take her out.

Considered it for certain but NC has been pulling me since 2019. I have dreams about the Skyway and 28. They are calling and I'm listening

I totally get it. Wait for the one weekend wheaton isn't gonna be ANYWHERE near that place. Planning is everything.
PS: If some wraith on an FJR flies past you on the Skyway, it may just be a local Georgian with the initials B.L.

Maybe from your dog, not from me. I don't wanna hear any whining about rain then on the way up.

Gee a few post ago JD was consumed, anger expressed and C clamps purchased.
No whining?

I’d say one post about tire frustration is not whining. I’d say 10 posts about the awful ES suspension might be considered whining...
I think I'm ready for a ride to SE Ohio...never mind.

Pulled the rear brake caliper and found the brake pads looked almost new; cleaned the caliper and reinstalled. Pulled the front calipers and found the three sets of front pads worn down almost to the backing so they got replaced. The linked front pads look almost new. Cleaned and reinstalled the calipers. Bled the brakes and clutch slave using my home made bleeding jar and brass bodied hand vacuum pump. My rear brake pedal is finally up and hard
I cleaned and lubed all the pivots. In spite of regular cleaning and greasing the brass clutch bushing on the lever is starting to show minor galling.
Changed the oil and filter.
For the second time this spring I removed a mouse nest from the tail of the bike. A big nest.
It looks like it's time for a shake-down ride.
(It remains to be seen if I will get around to washing my filthy motorcycle. I ride rain or shine so in the spring my bike rarely stays clean more than a couple of days.)
Edit to add: I updated my Excel service and maintenance log with all of the above.
