There are some battery tenders like the NOCO that you have to specify 6 or 12 volts so that when you hook it to a battery that is 4 volts it knows what to charge the battery to. My tender is a one-note, 12 volt device.

@ DesignFlaw06 you need a 'missile switch cover', sometimes called an 'arming cover'. I know someone that uses them over the nitrous arming switch in their car.

We had a switch cover on the sub's nuclear reactor control panel called "The Battleswitch." Suppose to be switched OFF during battle. Bypassed all nuclear safety circuitry.

The cover was red, and with the switch turned off, the cover wouldn't close. Let you know that you are now living dangerously.

I pulled the rear wheel off of Pop's FJR last night. Going to pull the front wheel tonight. I hope.

I have the cheap version of that on my switch for my outdoor motion detector spot lights. The switch would get turned off when the garage light was turned off. Then I would wonder why my security lights are not working. Gorilla tape on the switch fixed that.

Highly technical modifications. Put the techspec luggage protectors on (pioneered by Jim and Iris), albeit installed inverted. I liked the look and longer top edge coverage that way. And put another shifter boot thingy on, because I’m tired of scrubbing black shifter residue out of my desert boots.

Popped 2021's cherry with a little 100 mile ride today. Along the way we stopped at Le Macaron and bought some of Andrea Totok's real hand made French croissants. I prepare a number of French meals that we learned to love in France and breakfast croissants were served at every breakfast.

I also put spring air in my tires and washed some of fall's dirt off things like the windshield, mirrors and lights.

Me too - but only 100 km or so. Washed the sand and salt off when I got back.
Still lots of snow around but the roads are clear (except for the rivers of salty brine running across them from melting snowbanks).

Road it 175 mile or so today north of Spokane. Winter condition is prevail. Lakes frozen over, snow on the ground and lots of sand on the road.

I have about 900 miles on the repaired transmission and all it well. I also have about 900 miles on inexpensive Shinko Raven 009 tires. I am liking these tires so far. They drop in the turn real easy. Some may not like that characteristic but I do. They hold well in the turns and don't exhibit any bad handling characteristics. Time will tell how long they last but if I get 5k without significant squaring off I will be thrilled.

Photos from today ride.

Turtle Lake frozen over.

Mudget Lake nearly thawed out.

The road from Hunters to Springdale is usually a hoot. Sandy conditions today.

Today I took the lower elevation roads. Up higher it will be a mess for a while longer. Glad I stayed low today. Next ride I will head south where the elevation is much lower and roads in in very good shape.

Nice day to be out on the FJR trying to trash my inexpensive Shinko's. Thanks Ray and Josh.

Took it for a quick ride up on 136 and scrubbed in the new front Anget GT. Beautiful day for a ride, then a little lunch at The Old Mulehouse in Jasper.ImageImage

I pulled the wheels off of Pop's so I can get new tires put on tomorrow.

I have been riding the DR650 to work this week, that bike is a great commuter.

Put new front brake pads on. Proabably prematurely. Confirmed that, if you reverse the front wheel spacers during reassembly following a tire change, it will warp a rotor. You can only feel it at slow speed, coming to a stop, but it’s there. Need to figure out how hard replacing one is.
