Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Yesterday, I did my "northwest loop" ride, about 275 miles.
It was absolutely wonderful. Sixty-ish degrees and severe clear. As soon as we got out of the city, the road was ours. All schmucks were shopping or working or ______, but they weren't bothering us.
When it's right, it is pretty hard to beat, man.....

Rode her for two hours into downtown and back on curves, beside skyscrapers, and past a couple of pro sport venues. Beautiful sunshine and mild temperature. Doesn’t seem like much, but it was the biggest mileage since EOM.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I rode mine for a couple of errands. Today, I got the T30
Evo rear tire I ordered. I prefer premium tires, but am experimenting with mediocre rear tires paired with primo fronts. I wear through rear tires faster.
The T30 is heavier, looks larger, and has far stiffer sidewalls than the PR4GT’s and R5GT’s I usually use. I am not sure I’ll be able to mount this manually as I do with Michelin. But I’m going to try.

275 miles today - terrific weather and good riding with a buddy. We stopped and sniffed around.

It's cold and the roads are full of salt in Michigan. Insurance has been removed. Was bored so changed the oil. Bike is filled with ethanol free gas and ready to go when the rain washes the salt off the roads in the Spring.

I pushed my FJR out of the garage yesterday so I could exercise. I have been lazy lately. I didn't want to be one of those people that started exercising again on the Jan 1, so I started yesterday.

Jeez Oh Man ... the T30 is NOT a premium tire? I loved my Bridgestones all the way to San Diego and back, then for another 8,000 miles or so.

Ordered a new battery. I think bike still has the original and it's turning over pretty slow when it's cold out.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Gonna burst your bubble here, but there is nothing mediocre about the T30, unless you're not talking about the Bridgestone T30 Evo. Unless. I absolutely have to, I will never mount another Michelin on my bike again. Way more money for the same or less performance. My BT30s have been great tires. They are hard to mount. That is the only drawback in have found so far.bill lumberg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 7:22 pm I rode mine for a couple of errands. Today, I got the T30

Yup. Then Richard Russell amd a bunch of other places. Eventually went to Deal’s gap, chatted with Killboy and admired his scrambler for a bit, and went home to grill steak. Weather was surprisingly dry most of the day. Bike is simply trashed. I swear it weighs five pounds more than it did when I left.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
That inflates my bubble! These cost less than $100. The tires I normally use cost around twice as much. I am encouraged by your and Hud’s enthusiasm for this tire. I hope to rassle
my experimental T30 on tomorrow.

I have to admit I am kind of proud of myself being a Florida boy knowing what mountain in N GA you were on by a picture of a little corner of the parking lot.bill lumberg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 8:59 pm Yup. But I have to admit I have been there a few times. First as a hiker than as a biker. I think the AT sign gave it away.

You’ve immediately ID’d several
places from obscure photos. I’ve noticed.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I have not heard any negative reviews of T30's except for the stiff sidewall/hard to mount complaint..... tar warmers would seem to be the way.... a good all around tire.

That's just Neels Gap. The top of Blood Mountain is a nice hike up.
Highly recommend.

My days of vigorous hiking ended in the 1970s. For me, the top is where the road runs through the gap.
